I tried to fell a dying Maple...but before I could set my wedges, and release the back cut, the maple began to pop and crack! Could the trunk be so rotten that it's already starting to let go? If so, then it would likely come straight down onto the cabin.

After following for years, I finally realized why your narrative style seems so comfortably familiar. You, sir, are the Mr Rogers of the Wilderness. No annoying music, no flashy gimmicks, just a guy doing a job and explaining what he is doing in a mellow voice that can capture our attention without shouting.

How I would love to live in a little cabin in the woods! At 68 I still split and stack all the firewood I use for heat all winter. To be in the woods and watch the wildlife and sit by a warm fire must be a little slice of heaven.

"I'm trying to take it easy and not work too hard," says the guy who just worked harder on a laborious situation in snowy, cold weather than we city folks do in a month! Mr. Outsider, I, as I'm sure most of us here do, have so much respect and awe at your ability, analysis, and craftsmanship. Watching you solve, master, and create is pure heaven to those of us who revere the craft! Learning from you about how to triangulate the distance needed to fell a tree left me gobsmacked! I literally stood up and cheered when that tree fell EXACTLY where you had determined! You have my favorite KZbin channel, bar none! You are a treasure! Blessings always.

Thank you for another video! I always look forward to your videos and enjoy them very much!!! 👍👍👍😀💕🌸 When you were taking down the old maple tree and I heard the cracking, I was just as concerned as you. “Uh-oh” was loud in my head. When expanding and building my first house we had several diseased trees to take down. After my dad readied one for a fall, it started make the cracking sound, plus the wind caught it. Luckily we had ropes guiding it’s fall. My neighbors were concerned until they were all down. My dad cut up the very larger diameter wood and took it home with him. I cut up all the smaller diameter wood for the next six months. We had wood for several years for our fire pit to cook meat. We are in a much warmer climate so we did not need wood to keep warm.

As I watched you disassemble the pop up I thought about the bunk house tool shed and the snowmobile tow behind cabin. I have been watching since you placed the first stone. Those memories made me think of your dad. I am sure you do when you look at every board and nail. We are {were} the same age; I am now 73. My own son has an 80 year old cabin in the Allegheny mountains in Penna. When I am down there with him working on projects on the cabin I think of you two. Sigh

I had every confidence that you'd get that tree to fall exactly where you wanted. Can't wait to see what you'll build with the lumber.

Good job on the maple dropping and milling. Seeing your dad in the popup made me think of the Ice Cabin build. Great memories!!

I love the idea of a front porch! Ours was a sleeping porch plus couches to sit on, rocking chairs, and a rattan table that had shelves for books and puzzles. We had sisal carpets on the floor and glass windchimes. I always slept well on that porch.

Hello Outsider again! It's definitely not your first tree felling video!! Great pointers of the professional kind. As someone else stated, your videos are calming with no hype or horrible music! Touching to see your father again. In your case I believe you were mentors to each other. Actually I will include your grandfather also. The respect you had for him shows also. As always God bless to you and your family. Take care from your very long-time California subscriber 🙏 🤲

Hello Outsider, Great Job on the tree! I Pray 🙏🏼 you get over your cold my Friend!!! Boy I sure do miss Sr Outsider he was a good man and a great dad to you I know. I remember when he/y’all lost your Mom he was really lost for a while and really devoted his time to doing more with you after that. You filled a void for him and he dearly loved spending more time with you on your projects. He and I used to speak in comments and he knew I had lost my son your age in a horrific car accident. He even told me he’d point to the sky in one of your episodes, symbolically saying my son was in heaven looking down on me. Your dad done just as he said he would he pointed to the heavens and probably no one knew what he was doing!? But God, My Son Dustin, Myself, your Dad and possibly you knew. But that’s fine and it was a testament to me what a fine man your dad Senior Outsider was !!!!!! Although I never met him he Made me feel like he was best friends and the feeling was mutual. As tears fill my eyes writing this I can say my heart sank & I cried the video you put out announcing his passing. So I’m Sure Senior went to heaven and him and Dustin has laughed about him pointing to heaven in Dustin’s and my behalf. Outsider I loved your Dad as a Blood Brother and he’s definitely missed!!!!! God Bless you and Mrs Outsider and your lovely daughter. You guys are in my prayers. CC Rider
