So here's a suggestion if you guys continue this series: There was this game named "D. Jump" developed by ubisoft Paris and was supposed to launch at the same time frame as Tonic Trouble and Rayman 2 it even had a similar art style. Development started in N64 and hopped from console to console until getting canceled all together. It is rumored that mechanics and levels from it were used in rayman 2 and tonic trouble. I re-uploaded the trailer after it got deleted and there's more information on unseen64 and giantbomb.

Rather than going full on into a wholly RPG experience, the developers have instead preferred to include some typical simulation elements. You can observe how the creatures of the island grow and even set up some kind of civilisation. An incomplete version of Desert Island has already been shown to potential publishers for the European market, but so far nobody has seemed particularly impressed with it. I don’t know if there was a more fleshed-out rumor for Timber, but at one point, Rare was going to give ALL of the characters that they introduced in DKR their own games. DKR was an attempt to bootstrap their own cast of Nintendo-style mascot characters. This is why Conker is so different in DKR: they hadn’t turned him into a foul-mouthed degenerate yet because his character wasn’t fleshed out until they started working on his game. Banjo also hadn’t “met” Kazoo yet.

Catroot actually seems pretty interesting. Maybe it was a two player game, like how some shooters had split-screen for two player. What was the goal of the game? Dunno. Maybe it is a Tom and Jerry scenario if anything.

Oh man. This is Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogre_Battle_64:_Person_of_Lordly_Caliber One of my all time favorite. It's part of the Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre series. Half the series is the standard "move individuals around a small grid" system. Ogre actually did it first and Final Fantasy Tactics took it from them. And that was the second system. The first game in the series and 64 used this larger scale war simulation system where you move entire units of up to 6 characters around a huge map and the combat is automated based on their placements in the unit. The game was made by a company called Quest, which was bought and absorbed into Atlus, with its members scattered, so it's unlikely there will ever be another one, which makes me sad. But if you like long, very techincal strategy games, I DEFINITELY recommend checking it out.

I appreciate it ..! I will most definitely check it out , sounds like it checks off most things I love about Strategy RPGs *_:)_*

12:22 They could of just continued development to the Gamecube like they did with Paper Mario: 1000 Year Door and Luigi's Mansion. If it was that complicated to develop, it could of had a later WiiWare release or move it to Windows XP.

A Nintendo game based on an Osamu Tezuka franchise?! That would've been awesome!

There is a little known game for the ps2 called "blood will tell", it's a Dororo game.
@otaking35824 жыл бұрын
@@justanotheryoutubeaccount0 Yeah, and there other video games based on Tezuka's works (such as the awesome Astro Boy GBA game), but it's just not the same as having one developed by Nintendo...

One 'canceled' game was Bonk 64, Hudson Soft published the copyright, but apparently, it became Bomberman Heroes?

I swear, between these games and the stuff that got delayed to GameCube (Earthbound 64, Kirby Air Ride, Dinosaur Planet, etc), it seems like Nintendo was only releasing games at half capacity during the N64 era.

I thought Pokemon RPG became Pokemon colosseum. I remember seen that in youtube video having Iwata ask as source but Im not 100% sure on this one, I could be remembering things wrong though. Either way great vid as always. Very entertaining.

I remember seeing a "coming soon" article in a magazine for Robotech 64, around the time I first started watching the show in america, I was excited to play it despite not owning a N64, but it never happened and I haven't thought about it for decades until just now XD

I remember an article in a video game magazine (Gamepro or Electronic Gaming Monthly) about Capcom working on a Resident Evil title in feudal Japan and samurai warriors. There was one screen shot with the article of a a samurai warrior controlled by the player. It must have been in 1996 or 1997. I know this info is vague but I was closely watching for any games for the N64 because they were so few and inbetween.

I can totally imagine myself 22 years ago (yikes!) hyping many of those. N64 was heavily criticizes for lacking games (388, while SNES had more than 1700 and PSOne over 3000 titles) and many here look and sound really interesting. Surprising also to see so many 64DD titles, tons of ressources at Nintendo invested for nothing,
