It’s important to note that Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga was released in Japan AFTER other regions. There are multiple minor oddities that were fixed in the Japanese version, as well as a few alterations to sound effects and the choice of music. There were also a few gameplay changes to make the game easier.

A better example would be Final Fantasy IV, where the exact same game was made easier for the west, and didn't have an option for the original difficulty. But like I said: it's rare. The only other exceptions I can think of are Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Contra.

Superstar Saga was first released in America, its Japanese and European versions were released later, so, the Oho Gear was originally unused, and then it was brought back in the later versions

Got a bit of info regarding the Dragon Ball change. That change is actually a direct reference to the English dub of the show, which used the exact same altered line. The more masculine design of the underpants however is only in the GBA game.

In the end game of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance you’ll unlock a special mission after reaching certain criteria that tasks you with slaying 3 vampires which use the same names as the bullies from the snowball fight and the zombies from the rescue the professor mission. In that mission you’ll be accompanied by Ritz (your school friend who dislikes the bullies) and after completing the mission she’ll reference the bullies by claiming that the snowball fight is over which leaves your character a little confused as he doesn’t draw the same parallels she did.

It was released in Europe and Australia after Japan, and they didn't get Oho Gear either. Besides, the game was developed in Japan, so it's really more correct to say it was removed from the international editions.

I love the GBA so much and it holds a special place in my heart shaping up my childhood, Hoenn is also my home region where I started off the Pokémon Series. Oof I was just playing through FF1 on the GBA and that Mirage Tower Fact from Pokémon Emerald hit me like a Truck filled with Nostalgia, I knew the name of the Tower sounded familiar as I’ve also played Emerald.

In Atlus’s excellent GBA port of Double Dragon - fittingly titles Double Dragon Advance - loads of new content and enemies were added. Much of it takes influence from The Matrix, as you will fight Agent Smith-type bad guys and even Morpheus, and a stage takes place atop a moving semi truck.

The change from "girl's panties" to "world's most comfortable pair of underwear" is actually consistent with the NA dub of Dragonball, I pretty distinctly remember Oolong saying it because he had to say it really quick to fit that big sentence into the space of 3 syllables.

Another GBA fun fact! The European version of Tales of Phantasia was much bigger in size than the NA version, simply due to the fact that it used much higher quality voice samples. Didn't bother to fix some of the glaring translation issues though like Ragnarok becoming Kangaroo. (which happened due to an MS Word spellcheck)

About that Mario and Luigi one, something you seemed to miss is that the game was released in America before it was released in Japan. The most likely scenario seems to be that they forgot to make the gear droppable originally, but then fixed it for the Japanese release. It just wasn’t fixed for any other version.

I really like the old FF tactics advance. It has some really cool stuff in it and took like 70 hours to complete compared to today's 4 hour games. Btw that easter egg is not really hidden. In the post game you finish that snowball fight by killing those boys for the final time. They show up in several missions being stronger undead every single time.

I’m someone who’s recently beat Chain of Memories, and you have a slight piece of information wrong. The game is not about Sora obtaining his previous memories, the game is about Sora going through Castle Oblivion and through each world, the gang loses pieces of their memories, and get replaced with fake memories by Namine due to being forced by Organization XIII, while the ending (SPOILER) revolves around Namine erasing Sora’s memories inside Castle Oblivion, putting Sora Donald and Goofy into a deep sleep. They didn’t try to obtain their memories, they were simply realizing that through every level, the chain of memories they were piecing together were fake, replaced, and misguiding, like Sora thinking he knew Namine his entire life, when it was actually Kairi.

Memories, I found Rayquaza on complete accident while just messing around! XD Was in complete awe of the weird twisty thing on the screen, very intimidating for a 10 year old and also I had never even heard of rayquaza yet! Weird looking spite now. Later when I found Garitina on accident I was also genuinely worried as the area and its music was creepy then eventually finding Satan in draconic form- also didn't know who Garitina was when I found him either which had me piss myself. THEN Kyurem, I hit the middle of that crater and was literally thinking "Well that was a load of shi-" cut off by a crazy ass roar and the screen filled with snow and once again very concerned. Then seeing a huge ice T-rex wondering like the rest "What the hell is THAT!?!". X&Y role around... I meet Zygard, wasn't creeped out... wasn't surprised... Was horribly disappointed as he wasn't intimidating at all and frankly had 0 need to be. I honestly felt he was an incomplete pokemon tbh, I was right. Then was disappointed when my buddies 100% form basically got wiped by my Swana... Hurricane, it was confused and hit itself, I finish with ice beam and he claims its OP despite the evidence laying before him- claiming it is better than Arceus... I then had a buddy of mine with one confirm by facing him and ran a dark type arceus with calm mind build. He wiped 100% Zygard and his whole team on top 1hk each after his 3 calm minds and 2 recovers... I don't get it...

I really like the design and feel of the gba. All the other handheld consoles feel too bulky whereas the gba sits just perfectly in my hand. After learning a few of these facts, I feel like picking up my old gba and experiencing pure nostalgia again.

AMAZING VIDEO !!! I love the GB and DS\3DS series of handheld consoles (i growed up with the original game boy from 1989 and a copy of Super Mario Six Golden Coins. Ok, technically speaking the GBA is more like a Snes ... but take a look at Street Racing Syndicate, it looks like a damn Ps1 game (the only real problem with that game is the frame rate, unstable because of the heavy use of complex and big polygonal objects and texturized cars).

That Dragon Ball change was merely keeping it in line with the censored version of the English dub of the anime. Were other such altered scenes included in the game, I'd imagine the same changes would be made, such as swapping out Roshi's weaponized sexual nosebleed for a can of tomato soup.

The changes to Oolong's wish for underwear was also used in the anime, with the English adaptation making the same change. The one exception is that they were still panties, and Oolong commented with slight enthusiasm on that point once they appeared. "GIVE ME THE WORLD'S MOST COMFORTABLE PAIR OF UNDERWEAR! ... They're women's underwear? Heh." He then spent the rest of the episode wearing them on his head, with his ears sticking out of the leg holes.
