I guess bc Kelly was two-faced and fake. She was very judgemental of Valerie when she wasn't much better than Valerie. At first, I hated them both equally. However, as time went on, Kelly proved to be a horrible friend to Brenda. She believed the rumor about Brenda slept with the director to get the lead while Dylan did not. She was also very jealous of Brenda still being close with Dylan. What was the final nail in the coffin is when she was very judgemental and sometimes turn gang aganist Valerie when she wasnt any better than Valerie. I do rmr Valerie call her out on it, Kelly acted like she had no idea what she was talking about. She was also judgemental of Emma and David. At least Dylan isn't judgemental or pretends to be a Saint like Kelly.

Exactly! First of all Dylan is the boyfriend who should have had boundaries! If you listen to every word that they say it's pretty obvious that Dylan is pursuing Kelly a lot more than Kelly is pursuing him Kelly is to blame for not sitting boundaries as well she obviously is attracted to him but she never is Brenda the respect she deserves by emotionally and physically from Dylan

I think part of Dylan wanted to pursue something with Kelly, because there was far less pressure around her and her expectations of him weren't quite as adult (yet), whereas Jim rushed Brenda and Dylan into a more serious relationship by being so judgmental and Brenda herself started having trouble connecting with Dylan after she came back from Paris. Plus, Kelly and Dylan have a lot more in common. The bad reputations, the absent parental figures, addictive and self-destructive personalities.

@@strawberryherpes528 wasn't brenda living with Dylan and she left to go to Paris. I think she didn't have enough experience in life for Dylan, Not interesting enough for him. He never went back with her. The connection was real with kelly. I agree with you. Dylan was a real guy.

Shan was having personal issues,so the writers had 2 experiment ways 2 possibly break up(indefinitely) the brenda/dylan team,though it was a gold mine 4 the show. They were unsure if she may be dismissed from the show or not,&had 2 prepare viewers 4 such a possibility,so it won't feel so sudden.

theory; when Brenda moved in with Dylan in season 2 and they kept heated up between those arguments, Dylan grew tired of her and her father as well, and when she left for paris he probably felt relief and felt more connected to kelly, which lead to the cheating scenario. this is so sad, i can believe kelly and Dylan would do this to Brenda, sometimes its hard to watch season 3 because of all the hurt, clearly Dylan didn't truly love Brenda, or he wouldn't have slept with kelly, hence the theory on top. i always shipped Brenda and Dylan, but maybe it would hurt less if they were just near gotten together in season 1, or at least have Brenda stayed on the show, have Dylan try to get Redemption for what he did to Brenda and have them reconcile.

I agree but disagree. Brenda gets a pass. Does everyone think it was right what she did to Rick? Made a fake persona. But Dylan called Kelly his soul mate late in season 3 and even would say Brenda I love you as a friend. Don't forget this the not the first time she did this to him. She did it before but every time Dylan moves on poor Brenda

If Brenda would stay in season 5 I bet that writers would try to pair her with Steve or a new hunk like Noah in season 8. Brenda eventually would break up with Dylan in season 5 after he becomes alcoholic and a drug addict because of the scam that made him broke.

I mean it's so made up this change of personality.. you couldn't buy it..I mean he was more a little deepest personality back in time,..now he's an easy man to fall in love, hei let's cheat..it seems fun. I mean he has better personality later on in fourth season for example, at least a little bit like the old dylan he was.. rubbish season, sorry..😅

The writers original intent was for Dylan to have a fling with Kelly, then get him back with Brenda the episode of his Father's funeral. When the writers became disenchanted with Shannen they changed Dylan's character arc and it ruined the show in my opinion.

Also Luke reportedly said to producers he wanted to “work with the blonde”, some think it’s because he was tired of Shannen, others believe he wanted it to be more like Melrose Place where there was non stop drama and twists. First couple I ever shipped as a kid. The reason for most of my ships being complex & more interesting than the others. lol Their whole story arc is beautiful on screen b/c through the years we watch them grow from friends that finally found someone that gets them & how they are broken the same way to finally ready to be together in the series finale. The rest of the couples on the show are boring compared. They go through so many diff. stages & that's a lot more real to me as a fan to root for as well. Just b/c DK weren't planned doesn't matter to me b/c neither was Pacey/Joey or Spike/Buffy. The most unexpected couples can a lot of the time be even better.
