Nah im with dyl on this one. If john cant lock him up 1v1 and he claims he's getting no help then somethings not adding up. The main two differences between 1's and 5's is teammates and spacing. If john is locking Dylan up alone as he claims then he should be able to do that 1v1. What i think is happening is Dylan can't plan his plays well. He doesn't know how to get to a position to score because theres people all over the court and he can't space well. If thats the case then he can 100% get pass john easily he just has nowhere to go AFTER the fact and john is thinking "Damn im really locking him up he looks lost"

Nah, 1 v 1 is a totally different game from 5 v 5. Spacing, ability to get open for a pass, ability to look for/to pass, needing to consider the other players. That doesn't exist in 1 v 1. It is true that you have to consider other players in 5 v 5 but that can be separate from help defense.

And he’s trying to take credit for all of it. I think it's more of a Spacing issue which is why Dylan was struggling in THAT 5's, I don't think spacing should be automatically categorized as "help defense" dylan being swift would be able to easily win in a 1v1 situation since he has more space to play.

Dyl is prob struggling with spacing in the 5v5 setting. If he just asks an iso and go at John he would prob score considering John can't guard him 1v1. Though it's my assumption considering we have no footage but it's prob correct considering the footage we have of RDC vs AMP. So no John isn't locking Dylan up , Dylan is just not getting buckets on the regular period. If a guy in the NBA averaged 5pts per game, would you say that he got locked up that one night he scored 2pts ? I see what John means, in a 1v1 Dylan would have the entire court to use so that he can get around John but in a 5v5 Dylan doesn’t have that freedom and is more likely to have drive right past John instead of going around. Doesn’t necessarily mean that John is receiving help but the pressure that others bring doesn’t allow for Dylan to wash him. Also everyone else was basically sayin that while John sometimes received helped there were also times where Dylan just couldn’t score on him.

it might just be play styles/ experience at the end of the day. with something like soccer, theres many ways to play whether it be 11v11, 7v7 or 5v5. i play soccer all the time and a lot of my skills in say 11v11 would not be transferable to any of the other 2. so i might play worse as a result cause the basis of the game is changed. which could be what’s happening here. very funny argument tho 😂

Jon has a couple of points admitting that he's not a hooper or is better than Dylan, but shouldn't assume correlation equals causation because the fact was proven in a 1v1 setting he can't guard Dylan. Dylan doesn't need to stoop to Jon's level and is letting him win in that aspect. He should bring better proof/facts because Dylan's arguments/points are subjective. He should stick to mutiple things like in a 5v5 setting, spacing on the floor is a thing not just help defense, he is looking around to set others up not just put your head down looking to score for yourself because if you weren't looking around in 5v5 setting you should just play 1v1. Maybe he is getting fouled a lot and isn't calling it and his teammates even see it, but at some point you have to call the foul because let's say it isn't Jon and it's someone else and you don't call foul they will either keep doing it cuz they don't think it's a foul cuz you're not calling it or they are going to foul you harder and that isn't basketball anymore. From a 3rd party looking from the outside not knowing much about basketball it would almost seem even or slightly tilted towards Dylan. But if Dylan just defended himself better, case would be closed. TLDR: Dylan should've won the argument, but doesn't know how cuz Jon is in his head

1v1 Dylan won’t have any teammates to pass to if John force him to pick up his dribble. So if John can lock him up 5v5 it should be a cake walk 1v1. John isn’t good at offense. So he knows if he gets the rebound he won’t know how to score against Dylan 1v1. That’s why he prefers 5v5.

Lol I am on Johns side on this one. Being able to negate the effect of your matchup using help defense is skill. Knowing how to force your guy into the help defense is skill. One on one is different. John isn't quicker than dylan so he can just drive past. But in a game to be truly respected you need to be able to do it not only against your matchup but against the players helping on drives.

A cell has 4 walls, all of them do their job... if you're playing basketball especially at any decent level skill wise or you're just playing pickup against someone better, you know that eventually they are going to get past you a couple times since defense will always be a reactionary activity of the offensive player. Knowing how to lead a player into negative defensive situations is part of locking that player up.
