Double-commenting on this video to say thank you for helping me be me. It started with you and Laura; 100 gecs was just such pure and unadulterated "this is who we are and we're having a fucking blast" energy. But so far all of your solo stuff has spoken to me in the same way. My whole life I've been somewhat ashamed of who I am, and I don't know why. Watching you do your thing has really inspired me to be apologetically me. I love you Dylan. You've changed my life. It gets to me knowing that a lot of people do not know what it is to have a father / mom bringing you up/being supportive.. Yesterday was my dad's birthday. Been 5 years since the last time I saw him. I miss his stories about when he was young. Getting older is crazy. I used to visit him every single year but now I work a lot and damn... we still call each other every now and then, but it's not the same. I think about him every time I listen to this song. It's even crazier for me to think that the last time I saw him I was 15. A lot of stuff changed in my life and I would love to tell him everything that happened.

Hey - you would make any father proud. Not from your successes but because it’s so clear how much you want to be a good person. We left my dad when I was four and looking out the back of the car is when linear time starts for me - it was forever different. I’ve come to realize we have to take dads as they come and meet them where they let us: asking them to be different is a fool’s errand. Anyway, thanks for your honesty.
