They didn't just sell toys, they also sold the newest games, consoles, and game accessories. Not to mention if toys weren't a thriving market then other places wouldn't be selling Legos, Nerf guns, and so on. ToysRus can come back, we just need the right person to come along.

Come to Canada. You may not feel nostalgia, but you will be able to visit Toys R Us locations because none of those closed. It’s very sad. I grew up with that store and my mom always took me to them. We had three in our area and one in particular was the one I always went to. More came later even. My mom and I went together to the same store one last time before it closed and took pictures with the sign. Now like the others, it’s a supermarket. Las Vegas here. I worked for TRU for about a decade & am NOT surprised they went bankrupt at all. It was my first job & I experienced and learned a lot. Eventhough I hadnt worked anywhere else yet at the time, there were so many things about how it was ran that just didnt make sense & didnt work. It was often a very low moral place because of the management turnover rate. Eevery year we had a whole new mngt crew practically. Some would come & go. A handfull of them were pretty damn cool, but most taught me how not to be as higher level employee at later jobs. Stuff was waaayy too expensive & we were only ever barely makin it in the black because of the 3-5 month season, CHRISTMAS. The rest of the year, especially if you were a part timer.... man, you were working 2 or 3 4 hour shifts in a week. At my stores location, we were competing with a target across the street, a walmart a little down the way AND a damn MALL within walking distance.

I remember in elementary school a kid told everyone that toys r us was closing, but we all thought it was just a rumour. How wrong we were

I agree, children don't know how to use their imaginations anymore. Everything's on the phone or in front of some kind of screen. Granted as a kid in the 90s, I definitely love my video games but I wasn't absolutely addicted. I still play with my toys in action figures, and even video games would get tiring after a while. Today though with the cell phones, you have like so many options and it's completely endless.
