I finally get it. I appreciate how well you laid out the schematic with the actual components. Thank you for taking the time to create your videos.

I don't know Dylan if you see these replies from your older videos but THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you for this video! I have a dual humbucker guitar that I wanted to coil split with a 5 way switch but couldn't get the tone circuit to work. First off I was really disappointed with a Seymour Duncan's wiring diagram because it showed the wrong connection for the bridge pickup. Then after getting that figured out I had this problem with the tone circuit which, as you said, turned out to be a bad ground. And I should known better too because from working on cars the #1 procedure that was drilled into us in shop was to always check your ground.

My dude this is the single best explanation of guitar wiring I've ever seen. Your explanation of the "why's" and reiterating with more and more complexity slowly added in is marvelous. Thank you so much for making it make sense.

Hello Dylan, Thanks for sharing all of your informative videos. Dylan, I have a question for you, and that is when wiring a couple of active EMG humbuckers and a single tone knob and a single volume knob and an import 3way switch. For the output jack, do it have to be a stereo three prong output switch. To have the proper connection? Thanks.

Some diagrams show the cap soldered to the tone pot middle lug, others to the 3rd lug. I opened 2 of my guitars, on one it is wired to the middle, on the other the cap is wired to the 3rd lug. Both guitars seem to work ok. Where should I attach the cap on the one I'm putting together now? Does it matter?

Dear Dylan, thank you for your constant passing of understandable knowledge. What's the best way to ground a vintage tele from the bridge. replaced pickups, bridge pickup does not have a copper base plate. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

This just made me think. If the pickuos are parallel and in the middle position, the output is hald and half am I correct, but I 2 people were in a room and one person is talking than the other person jumps in, the decibal of that conversation doesn't necessarily go up

Problem I have with my strat is after playing around with the wires (trying to understand how it works) I re connected only one Pickup and now the output volume is very low. I have to turn my amp way up. I can not figure out why this is?
@tomfoolery20825 жыл бұрын
Try breja tone works on utube n look for standard strat wiring or ur type of strat wiring. Not too tuff u prob got 1 in the wrong spot. Easily done.

you got your second example incorrect,. sorry. pickups with independent volume controls go first to the volume and then to the switch

@@DylanTalksTone I really like your channel, I think the explanations are clear and useful for beginners and as a reference. I've seen other channels where the presenter will annotate the video with text where an error has been made and I think that's useful. Be careful when stating generally that "when two electronic components (not just resistors) are wired in parallel, they will read half [of them]" I imagine you know that capacitors in parallel will sum their values.

So…..Grounded……grounded to what. Where do all those wires go. Are they all joined together. By the way this is really helpful, can wait to practice this

Is a tone pod the samen as a volume pod?
@mikeTHEmanatee5 жыл бұрын
jeroen h - the answer is yes. brand new, stand alone, both out of the box, you can use either of them as vol/tone. it's the way you solder them, it's what makes it either vol or tone. just like electrical wire. you got 3 different color wire, line them up side by side, each wire is identical. the colored sleeve is to only help the user decode the properties that SHOULD be running through it; ie. voltage, resistance etc. etc.

I don't think your calculation of output for two pickups in parallel is correct? Isn't it more like 30% of both pickups?
@DylanTalksTone6 жыл бұрын
Iggytommy it’s usually half of one. Since they aren’t usually equal, it can vary....
