Well this music video has a lot of meanings behind it, one of them being that Gaga is a huge activist for the gay community and she’s feeling torn between her religion (one that says homosexuality is a sin) and her personal beliefs (all people are equal). So she’s having a lot of push and pull between the two. The swallowing of the rosary symbolizes how people swallow what the church tells them without a second thought, the upside down crosses on her body especially the crotch area symbolize the demonization of sexual endeavors and the way she is being provocative towards these “feminine” men is to show how back in the day and even now people would try to convert gay people because they didn’t believe it was okay. All of this has little to do with what the actual song is about which is losing a lover (I believe).

Idk why your comments for the Judas video was off so here I am. The music video is a reinterpretation of the Bible. Everything in it is a reinterpreted iconography. The video also tells the same story. There are disciples. Judas is the bad one and Judas eventually betrays Jesus. I have a feeling that you guys interpret the song and video as “I support Judas,” but I want to clarify that it doesn’t. The words Jesus and Judas in the lyrics symbolizes good and bad, and Gaga finds herself stuck in between. “I’m just a holy fool and it’s so cruel, but I’m still in love with Judas baby,” and “Jesus is my virtue, but Judas is the demon I cling to” describes a person who knows what goodness is but finds themselves attracted to the darkness; a very human thing. Gaga is very Catholic and it shows.
