99-02 bottom ends were bullet proof. Lots of room for performance mods fo sho. I have owned a 2002. Carbs are great except when cold and your in a hurry. Other than that I prefer carb as well. U do sit a little higher. Keep an eye on your engine mounts. They wear and sag and can cause a few issues. Easy to replace. Cam chain tensioners and oil pump are another thing but I bet Peter being a Savy Biker took care of dat. 👍🏻 that bike is sick.

The reason for the snappyness is also the weight difference about 60lbs lighter than the early models. I've had 3 FXDX and FXDXT's and newer Dyna's and FXR's and the early model DX's with a basic 95 feel ridicules snappy even more than my FXR's with Evo's.

Fuel injection might be theoretically better, but that doesn't mean that it's actually better. Combined with great electronics, fuel injection can and should be more responsive but every part between your wrist and the manifold needs to be just right, that goes for either system.

How do dual disc brakes perform better than single? You can still pull the brake enough to completely lock up the tire with one disc, meaning the limiting factor in stopping shorter is tire grip, not the lack of braking power.
@FXDLSBrooklyn2 жыл бұрын
Honestly I do not know, but I do feel a noticeable difference in stopping power with my bikes that have them 🗽⚡️
@FXDLSBrooklyn2 жыл бұрын
This is usually the type of comment where someone smarter than me has the answer 💡
@boomer47952 жыл бұрын
@@FXDLSBrooklyn I googled some and think it might be that you get more stopping power given the same amount of force pulling the brake lever, but overall stopping distance won't be shortened necessarily. Not applicable to most, but in race situations with constant hard braking, two rotors reduces brake fade providing better performance longer. I don't ride like that for very long, so I think I'm fine with my single disc haha.

For all the less than veiled insults that Harley Davidsons take for being obsolete and agricultural equipment, there's something very visceral...raw about carbureted Harleys that stabs ye Ole grey matter squared between the eyes with a rusty fork, an idea scratched out on a bar napkin by men without reference points and only slightly more refined as internal combustion became more civilized with time, the fuel for the monster is still atomized thru a serviceable tomato can with acupuncture scars held vicariously by cables leading to wrists of thousands of years of DNA not removed from violence and endorphins. I hear ya, been riding my Dyna FXDP for 8 years and it's went through a lot of changes upgrades and broken parts but over the years I've noticed that all the bikes look alike ( Not Peter Gunz bikes ) and I have noticed that they all have these fugly patch plates and the gauges are on the bars? Oh yeah, black, black, black!
