These are really well packaged. Mine arrived in perfect condition. It took longer to dispose of the packaging than it did to put the smoker together. Don't worry about the top vent. If it closed completely the smoke trapped inside would get stale and bitter

Had mine for 2 years now and liking it. Have mine propped up on a couple of cinder block to gain height. For my usage and meat styles, I tend to use the firebox door as my main damper. I don't even use the bottom latch, top latch alone keeps entire door sealed. I threw out the little (useless) drip pan, and just use a small disposable foil pan underneath. I wrap foil/foil pan halfway on lowest rack to use as a heat deflector.

I like your base. I think I will buy some wheels on mine and have an area for wood and charcoal storage. You saw what I saw about having a heat diverter or even adjustable baffles. Good presentation.

The Wal-Mart brand coal is actually Royal Oak brand. Very good coal. They make a lot of rebranded coal, Home Depot Brand is 1 as well, the coal design with the arrow coming across gave it away as well as I saw on their site the many brands they put out.

How is it now? I've heard if you put fire bricks at the bottom, wrapped in foil to keep them clean, the will help retain the heat. Also, try some good lump charcoal. I use Kokomo Joe in my smoker. Much bigger chunks, but also burn longer and a little hotter so you can use less. Very interested in how it's holding up!

Did you have to seal it with high-heat food-grade silicone? I've looked at some reviews and everyone is talking about that for this model.

can it fit a full baby back rib?

The lip is on the door. This keeps the drippings inside the smoking chamber.

What are the dimensions of the box that you have it sitting on? I would like to have one made for my smoker

Do you recommend a starter chimney or starting the charcoal right in the sidebox?
@RollerRick335 жыл бұрын
I would always use a chimney with this smoker.

How's she hold up? My biggest worry would be it won't last long. Can you burn wood splits?
@RollerRick334 жыл бұрын
So far so good had a few months I think and in all honesty haven't even got a cover yet. Dont know about using splits would have to be small one's.

Still liking your Dyna Glo? I've heard they won't get over 200 degrees or so in cold weather...have you experienced that? Thanks!

I live in Florida so don't have a cold issue i did have problems with cheap charcoal but kingsford slow burn seems to work great every time some times gets to hot and have to close the dampers all the way don't know if I would recommend for cold weather smoking

I fired mine up yesterday in 30 degree weather and I had trouble keeping it under 300 degrees. Firebox wasn’t full either.

So after two years are you still using it and making stuff with it and how is it working so far cause i was thinking of getting into this so i was curious
@RollerRick333 жыл бұрын
Hey man, honestly I wouldn't.... it does not hold heat well. I've been using the $200 charbroil offset smoker for years and this is much better. I will post a picture.

Keeping the ash pan from filling up helps too keep it above 200 so I use real oak not store bought and B&B lump coal. If you use the Briquets they ash too much and you will be dumping the pan more. This combo burns hot and long with less mess.
@mchaywood833 жыл бұрын
How long of a burn can you get with this?
@a596320W3 жыл бұрын
As long as you want. Just keep feeding the fire with charcoal about every 1.5 Hrs
