Thanks so much Ramesh and Vivek. I would like to know what happens in case of a refund for DCC transaction. Does it mean the Cardholder billing amount will remain the same as in the original sale txn even if the exchange rate fluctuates? Also, in the case of normal cross-border txn, are there possibilities of the refund txn being applied a different rate? What is the benefit of DCC to the acquirer?

Refund is a standalone transaction therefore the current exchange rate will be applied however issuers still try to match it against the original and perform their due diligence on the refund to ensure there is no loss to bank's business

Awesome. Is issuer allowed to decline DCC transactions? Because when I was choosing to pay in my home currency, the transaction was getting declined. But when I paid in merchant currency the transaction was successful.

Never came across anything like that, never seen any issuer configuring the system to decline DCC trxn, it could be some bug causing decline, did you check with your issuer

What would a customer get incase he chooses a home currency over a currency of the merchan

then its a DCC trxn, if customer chooses foreign currency then its a normal international trxn
