I would love to see a video all about (bass) guitar ->into-> eurorack and all the cool stuff you've learned / tips! My bass guitar got ruined so I need to get a new one. I've gone and done it again, ordered after midnight after a whisky. But by jove this looks like such a decent module, esp with the meter expander. What a really useful module, the amount of character that adds is silly for the price! Just ordered the one dynamics for now, with the meter and see if i need another!

Yeah I agree, the envelope outs allow for that feature though. Just a case of matching a couple of knobs which I found easier than I first thought it might be.

This is awesome .Do you have any recommendation for the ducking effect for stereo input please? I would like to bring my guitar stereo signal into a large delay and have the delay duck out when i play a note and then for the delay to bloom once i stop playing. Thanks

Hey Ben, sorry for the comment on an old vid but do you think this beasty can handle running vocals through it? I am trying to keep most of my recording tools in the rack and this looks like a nice feature set.
@DivKid3 ай бұрын
Hi Michael, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't. Though I can't say I've tried it. It'a a great set of tools for any source though, harmonic excitement, compression or expansion, EQ. I hope it does a great job if you go with it.

I've been curious... what do you use to boost guitar/bass to Eurorack level? Something basic like MI Ears or something fancier?
@DivKid2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe I was using the Befaco Instrument Interface here. It's great for bringing in guitar/bass. The DPW Design MOG 4 band distortion also has a 1/4" hi z input and was designed at first to bring a bass guitar into a rig. Well a guitar of any type but the design of the original multi band distortion pedal was for a bass guitar. So that's worth a look too.
@joe76232 жыл бұрын
@@DivKid Awesome, thanks. The Befaco interface looks like a winner thanks to the combo jack, ability to take mics, and the fact that I can get it as a kit.
@jedgould55312 жыл бұрын
The problem with a dynamics processor is most mixers - particularly the befaco - have them built in, because euro levels are so all over the place. The few without a limiter are a bit more difficult to use. Adding additional processing sounds fraught with self-defeat. I notice the meters did not always reflect the processed sound; not always as dampened as the sounds we are hearing. Disco Samples were a good demo.
@Rareos Жыл бұрын
That’s the nature of the analog VU meter. Also, no they don’t, and when they do, they aren’t as flexible, and all of them are really effective and fun..so yeah.

Does anyone know if euro rack compressors are better/worse than 500 series or 19” compressors?
@Rareos Жыл бұрын
Eurorack power rails are on +- 12V vs 16V of 500 rails and then swinging wider with dedicated PSU's on 19" gear... so technically there is more headroom and better s/n ratio in the rack format, if you can hear or notice that between quality built units in either format in practice will depend on a lot of things. Having eurorack compressors comes with other more creative benefits with system and patch integration that other formats don't provide, but proper 19" stuff will very generally speaking sound "better", but in quotes because its subjective anyway + actual circuit design plays a role, there are plenty of shit 19" compressors. I had an L1 ms compressor in 3U and it sounded pretty fucking good, could master with it and nobody would bat an eye, but you've got to unbalance the signal, things become more vulnerable, etc... i have a lot of rack compressors like Overstayer, Bettermaker, Elysia Alpha and i would not prefer the L1 to those.

How does one mult an audio source?
@DivKid Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel, a mult is a multiple. In modular this is a splitter. Multiple copies of the same signal. So any way you have of taking one signal (one cable) and breaking that into two (on two cables) then you're good. In a studio a patchbay helps, you can get splitter cables or boxes etc. In modular multiples exist as modules but you get stacking cables and in line cable splitters on patch cables too.

two modules in one with the EQ and comp sections though. But two for stereo was the way to go. Or one for processing drums and the other for ducking things against them etc.
