A conversation in an offices on the 49th floor - "Thank you for coming to this interview. Your resume impresses us. First question we have for you: how are you with motion sickness?"
@nadion79

You can enter and exit by the ground floor, which does not move. There is a central column that does not move either, which houses the elevator shaft. The building does not actually rotate that quickly - each floor only moves a few inches per hour so in reality you probably wouldn't even notice. You wake up with one view, then fall asleep to another. Each floor rotates independently and has controls that can regulate it.

I love the concept. It's not new; it's existed before, but not on such a large scale. The building is sustainable and harmonious. It is shaped by nature. It reflects the waves. It improvises. Absolutely beautiful. Never mind is built for the elite and most people will never realize it's beauty, but its a start. We will see many more other amazing ideas come to existence in this century. Its a new architectural era, and I'm very happy to be a part of it :)

Read the description: "It will also generate electric energy for itself." Furthermore, on the website it says, "The Dynamic Tower is environmentally friendly, with the ability to generate electricity for itself as well as other buildings nearby making it the first building designed to be self-powered, it achieves this feat with wind turbines fitted between each rotating floor. An 80-story building will have up to 79 wind turbines, making it a true green power plant."

the tower has rotor blades between every level, so it uses wind energy to create power and becomes its own supplier. there are also plans for dynamic hulls, leading wind in the building during summer times and sealing warmth in the winter. this is very interesting for areas were there are drastical changes of temperatures throughout the year. the builing alters from season to season, thats the future

@skineater911 ...no, the wind is constantly blowing on the sea shore, thats why there are no plans to put these anywhere other than sea side, its supposed to be an energy efficient building, so being able to tell it you want it to spin would use extreme amounts of electricity. they is prolly a break to stop or slow it, but the spinning is up to the wind.

For those who aren't particularly knowledgeble in architecture and have questions: 1. This tower would not only generate its own power, but enough surplus to power a few nearby buildings as well. 2. No, you wouldn't feel sick from the rotation. 3. It should theoretically be cheaper to build since the parts are prefabricated then assembled at the site. 4. These building would be very efficient in the summer and winter. 5. Much safer to build than normal skyscrapers.

I figure lifts/stairs will be in a static centre hub, with an open plan lobby area on each floor that encompasses both inner and outer rings. Outer ring moves slow enough to be safe stepping on to it - it's safe to stand over the swivel of a split bus, for example. The enormous expense will be worth it for the engineering knowledge gained in construction - and for the art, technology and functionality conspiring to realize the imagination of the human spirit.

Check out the details: "It will also be able to produce its own electricity." In addition, according to the website, "The Dynamic Tower is ecologically beneficial, as it can produce electricity for itself and other adjacent structures, making it the first skyscraper intended to be self-powered. Wind turbines are installed between each revolving level to accomplish this feat. A real green power plant will be an 80-story structure with up to 79 wind turbines."

Actually, the building's motion is entirely powered by wind turbines on every floor. It's completely green. Movement is controlled as desired by the residents, as each floor moves independently. There also is a lift that allows the condo owners to park their car in their own apartment!

@trandoductin Dynamic engineering is also designing the buildings to put up wind propellers between each floor to generate electricity for the city and the building itself. Considering how many floors and how many propellers are there, one building could power up 1/4th (my best guess) of the entire city! Imagine what four buildings could do. : )

nice idea however it could not go back and forth like that, it would have to be constant or very gradually changing motion else people would be falling over inside, it couldnt possibly produce its own energy though it may well be powered by renewable sources but thats not the same thing, also surely the mechanics of this would be very very loud with the entire tower moving? i think its a cool idea but am very skeptical as to whether todays technology can pull it off
