ἐλπίς is the Ancient Greek word for Elpis, which stands for the Daimon (guiding spoirit) of Hope. It was ἐλπίς that was all that was left in Pandora's Box after letting escape all good things back to the Olymp. So hope was all that humanity had left. I found everything so beautiful about it that I've had my first tattoo with these symbols on my wrist to always remind myself to never lose hope, no matter how bad things might look. when I faced Meteion, I couldn't bring myself to tell her it was over. she was a lost child, alone and afraid of the pain. so I told her "come with me, Meteion." I was telling her that I could help her. that I would shoulder that pain with her so she could begin to heal.

Yeah, some people try to lay the blame on Meteion for what happened but she never really had much agency. She was an organic robot basically, created by Hermes with a single goal and tasked to fulfill it. It wasn't her fault that the order itself was flawed and could never be completed, coupled with her being built with the flaw of feeling other beings emotions as her own to an extreme degree. So once she was sent out into the bleakness of space and met all of these intelligent beings in the midst of their own apocalypses she began to feel their grief and desire to end it all, as if it was her own emotions. And it all just spiraled. All she ever wanted, was to fulfill the mission Hermes tasked her with.

But my most favorite is Jullus's breaking down in tears after being offered soup by an Ala Mhigan/Eorzean, their once sworn enemies, and having felt their genuineness
