i remember this express would sometimes head near my house back in tennessee. also southern 4501 would also head arould with a freight for supplies for the smoky mountain shops. there was also a gatlingburg branch where some of the dollywood locomotives and other trains in gatlingburg would do express and freight services.

Google 'tennessee central railway museum 9912' - 6902 is BN9912, the traingirl loco ! It is an E9A, not an E8A. Heck, i'll just cut and paste what the museum says...... Built in December 1955 for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad. Number 9987B was part of the last order of E9A units from EMD for CB&Q. Operating in CB&Q’s passenger service and as part of their Zephyr operations. In 1970 CB&Q merged with 3 other companies forming Burlington Northern. It became BN 9982 on March 2, 1970, was sold to the West Suburban Mass Transit District on August 18, 1972 and leased back to the BN. During October 1973 it was rebuilt by Morrison Knudsen and returned as E9AM 9912, named, "Village of Brookfield,” and pulled commuter trains for the BN under contract with the RTA until retired in July 1992, It was purchased by the Nashville & Eastern for a proposed commuter operation , but was replaced by an EMD F40 before operations commenced.

Unlike many tourist railroads, Tennessee Central has access to a line that gets used for higher speed commuter operation. It’s a rare time you can see passenger trains going at track speed.

Imagine Tennessee being another West Virginia without the FDR new deal. Tennessee Valley authority. Tennessee could be even more powerful economically if they pulled their heads out of their asses.
