Went back again playing DW8 (not XL) after years and I missed this game. - Thunder is good for characters that has good charge combo attacks because it will only activate during the C1-C5 combos and EX attacks - Induction will activate upon physical attack strings (square light attacks) it seems it will not activate on C1-C5 combos. - Never pair thunder and induction as for some reasons it has detrimental results and will cancel out each others functions. - Explosive spreads an elemental effect (frost, inferno, thunder, induction, slash) to nearby enemies. - Cyclone unfortunately has long been nerfed and its once juicy effect can now be replaced with other ones. - Roar+triumph pair is good for musou/rage characters to compensate for their poor physical attacks.

My basic setup is: Cyclone, Flash, Slash, Velocity, Jubilation and Thunder. This setup is pretty dumb and overpower. Lu bu at hulao gate is killed with 1 or 2 combos, even with lvl 50 character. Musou setup: Aggression, Uplift, Velocity, Thunder, Slash and Jubilation I'm using this setup for character which Cyclone doesn't work, like Cao Cao, Zhuge Liang, and it's funny to spam musou with them. Rage Setup: Triumph, Cyclone, Jubilation, Velocity, Thunder, Slash. Pretty broken on characters like Want yuanji or on characters with weak musou and no Cyclone available, like Cai wenji

I went with both On Hit and On Kill versions for Health, Rage and Musou... makes you pretty much unkillable. Turns out I don't often think about my Rage... so I may toss those out for Velocity and either Cyclone or Slash.

I've been playin musou games since dw3, and I had NO IDEA the combos could get this deep lol. I'm more of a "square 4x then triangle" kinda guy 😂 Ps. In what ways are Thunder better than Induction?? It seems like the lightning effects happen MUCH more frequently with Induction

From what I understand, induction activates 100% of the time but dmg is low. Thunder activates not at 100% but pretty often, and dmg is huge. It also stuns.

@KyranSparda You're still wrong. Induction has a 90% chance to activate on every attack except musous and doubles the damage on that attack. Thunder has a chance to activate on "elemental attacks", and takes out a random percentage of the enemy's health. "Elemental attacks" are certain charge attacks that can trigger elemental damage. Elemental damage includes Inferno, Frost, Thunder, Cyclone and Slash (usually only the last 3 matters). Some weapons has charge attacks that can trigger elemental damage multiple times, like Lu Xun's C3 attack. Thunder additional damage is almost always significantly higher than Induction, but Induction can trigger on more attack. So you should use them depending on your weapon. If you're using a weapon with a charge attack that has multiple elemental activations, use Thunder (and Slash + Cyclone + Flash). If not, use Induction. I recommend Spurt, Swiftness and Velocity for ultra fast Sonic the Hedgehog build. Combine with Morass to slow everyone else down and feel even faster.

@@laurentiusmcmxcv Yes, very frequently. Combine it with the skill that makes all powerups more common and they are literally everywhere. Been a long time since I played but I remember literally always having the speed boost.

@@TheRPGentleman Noice I revisited the original DW 8 lately, and I'm messing around with the save editor I never got to acquire all 5th weapons, but, boy, those are much prettier than XL's 6th weapons and the vanilla difficulty had three actual settings unlike XL, which feels like it has only 1 I've discovered so many cool things about 8

@@laurentiusmcmxcv 8 is the best since 5, without a doubt. The series took such a sad turn with 9. I'm not sure it can recover but hopefully 10 will be an actual improvement on the tried and true formula and not some horrible disgrace.

@@TheRPGentleman They needed way more time to develop 9 than in 7 or 8, you can see it in through the massive amount of cloned movesets I still prefer 8, though, with its 77 completely different movesets and I personally think 8XL was a step back in terms of difficulty settings(and some other things)

Cyclone even after its massive nerf in DW8XLCE is still the best element in the game. You can still do damage to blocking enemy officers on Ultimate difficulty LOL.

DW8 is a turtles game. From officers, unit commander to mobile captain, the pests constantly blocks your attack. Even in Xtreme Legends the cyclone got nerfed, it doesnt activate during normal square attacks

Truthfully Frost has always served me well (for those not already granted with an ice based attack),I generally run a Velocity,Frost,Cyclone,Jubilation set on my weapons and it has yet to fail me (unless I'm fighting Lu Bu after I stupidly took out Diao Chan) with my favorite character I unlocked his ultimate weapon and finished the stage with nearly full health and I wasn't even max level (62)

Frost would be useless if your setup is so powerful it would kill the enemy before it manages to be frozen. To me it's a waste of space.

I just go with Cyclone, slash, frost/thunder, induction/explosive, jubilation and roar/velocity with almost all characters for 1st weapon. 2nd weapon something like musou and rage spam build with aggression, uplift, enlightenment, roar, triumph and jubilation OR just pure attack damage with Cyclone, slash, flurry, frenzy, velocity and jubilation/survival 😂 it's fun just to tweak here and there to see the result. There's a lot of combination but 2 elements that i don't like and never use is harmony and protection 😅

Some thinks this vid failed to mention. Cyclone, Slash, Thunder, Flash are the % damage skills. Induction/explosive are damage multipliers e.g. most useful vs low health.

Mustafa Hussein e.g. % HP Damage means say you target has 1000 hp and takes 20% hp damage that is 200 damage. 10000 = 2000 damage. A multiplier of 1.5 or 2.0 100 damage is 150 or 200 E.g. % health damage is extremely powerful Unless you have a target / attack you to multi hit with it generally better. IN DW8, IN 8XL the multipliers are favoured

Mustafa Hussein HP % damage does not care about the enemies health. Multipliers do. It also depends if your attacks can proc elements or modifiers. Basically you need to know if the attack can be elemental or trigger the skills. Once you now that you can focus to optimise damage For DW8 most don't care and go elemental. However XL is far improved with focus on modifiers due to multi attacks and high damage rated dlc weapons.

I just unlocked the best Blacksmith level to put any skill. The first thing I did to my Guan Ping weapon is put: Venom, Cyclone, Velocity, Inferno, Frost, Thunder I love pretty colors

watching this after i lost all my ps3 savedata (few years back) and only felt how bad it is when i wanted to continue towards platinum. i just bought ps4 xl complete edition sadly i have to do everything again from story to ambition. oh and they dont unlock anything since the ps4 edition only counts trophies related to xl and not the main game.

i have this element called "Gale" it's literally increase your DMG everytime you defeat enemy, so more K.O count means more DMG, and the DMG will stay until you finish the game, but i forgot where i get this element tho it's been a while i play DW 8 XL

You get it from the Rampage challenge in challenge mode. Combined it with the Battleaxe attribute you can get from ambition mode to break the game in two.

In another video, you said Slash may activate on foes that are guarding while Cyclone only activates on foes who aren't guarding. So I understand it as Slash and Cyclone never stack. Why do you put them into a setup?

Venom reduces enemy defense and slowly poisons enemies over time. It will only work by chance on weapons that have charges with dark green trails

Cyclone can still be a good choice for weapon setup in Xtreme Legends and at higher difficulty due to the officers will likely will block more often -> easy to proc Cyclone.

Just a question, been trying to search through the web about this and whatnot, but for me (this is on XL complete edition in Japanese), Slash (10) seems to RARELY ever proc. on a large hoard of people I only get a OHKO on 1 or 2 enemies if I'm lucky or none at all. And on officers it only seems to proc like 1 in 4 times. I keep thinking maybe it's the critical hit factor and not Slash doing it (Through Accuracy 20) and it's slightly bugging me. It also seems like the chances of slash proccing on horseback is even lower. This was tested on Ambition mode on Easy difficulty btw (when the enemies start having like very large health bars). Is this supposed to happen? in other videos I see, slash occurs waaaay more often than when I play

Nah, i also use slash 10 and just like you im not always getting OHKO every time. But when i use it on throwing knife alongside with cyclone 10 i just spam square every time and its OHKOing enemy around 40-70% of the time, if not dead they will suffer lots of damage (playing ambition skirmish on ultimate). Yeah, maybe the slash element is just meant to increase your damage and the OHKO features is just an addition. Im playing this in DW8XLCE vita edition. Hope this helps.

+isectoid DW8xl is basically just DW8 with more added content, so I don't understand the hate between them. zhang liao's original voice just suits him more than the new one in my personal opinion (he just sounds more badass). Lastly for me I only began with 5 and so far 6 was the only shit game in the series (despite my liking for Lu Bu's ridiculous story mode).

Late, but here we go If you hit an enemy a certain number of times in a row, the element will activate Flurry at level 1 multiplies all damage by 1.5 and at level 10 it multiplies by 2, as long as the chain counter stays on screen after the element is activated In other words, keep your combo to keep flurry in effect, it's the most kung-fu element in the game, actually rewarding you for stylish combos Bottom line, it won't activate after your chain reaches a certain value. It will activate after you perform a few hits in a row, most likely 6 to 7.

Yeah, generally DOTs damage in this game is not a good choice as we have to execute the enemies as fast as possible to proc Julibation or Rage/Musou Springs.

hmm so skills that have chance to procc, like slash and thunder.. does having induction/explosive increase those chances? cause they give extra hits?.

Thunder only works on ground units

And actually explosive and induction will also proc elemental attacks as long as your PROC attack brings elemental damage. And as explosive is AOE, then and AOE elemental attack procs cyclone can make cyclone multi hit. And its damage is base of your damage on the proc attack.
