Historically, Liu Bei did not honestly trust her. Liu Bei was in fact very fearful and terrified to the point that he did not trust while he was away. And when Sun Quan found out that Liu Bei was heading to Yi Province with Lady Sun, he wanted his sister back. She even attempted to kidnap Liu Bei's son (who is not her son since he had more than one wife (it was a different time back then)) and take him to the Sun Quan.

Seriously why don't they ever let Sun Shangxiang do anything in Shu after Liu Bei dies? I'd rather have her be a stand-in for Guan Xing or Guan Yinping than just be wasted like that. A cool design, cool backstory and this is the best they can come up with? At least Warriors Orochi 2 treated her important in the Shu story mode with the whole crossover thingy. DW9 just further proves the pointlessness of having her marry Liu Bei. I want to like the character but clearly KT does not. Just add Liu Bei's other wife Lady Gan (who is also Liu Shan's mother) so Shangxiang can go back to her glorious tomboy roots.

I'm pretty sure Sun Shangxiang/Ren married Liu Bei to secure an alliance between Sun Quan and Liu Bei, and also she committed suicide after she heard of Liu Bei's death after that disastrous defeat against Sun Quan's forces.

I don't think you get that historically, she did not do much. She arguably did not do fighting period. Most of the women you see in the games did not fight at all. The story of the Three Kingdom was more of a set of stories that ended in tragedy after tragedy, character to character with dead wishes and dreams. If I recall one of the female characters in the game in the historical background actually drowned themselves in the river. I mean if you wanted something she did, she did try to kidnap Liu Shan and take him to Wu despite it was not her biological son.

@Obito xshinobi in history, she is not go well with liu bei. Their married is just for politic. Zhuge liang never trust her, and tell liu bei not to trust her all the time . When liu bei is not at capital, she and some Wu officers tried to steal crown prince (liu shan) to wu. But they failed, and most be killed. I think she commit suicide after liu bei die is non-canon story

lmao none of them were, miles away from close. Actual history records were completely yeeted in the bin and went for a full on disneyfication of the Romance instead. Almost every couples in the game actually were messed up and unhappy in real life. eg. Zhang Fei and Xiahou Ji: messed up marriage, the former kidnapped her in her early teens and made her his wife. Just because SSX was a female warrior they decided she was the pefect mate for Liu Bei in the game because it fits with the theme. Hell she wasn't even supposed to be in his deathbed they were divorced years before that scene.

Nobody knows the records of his life tho, but he's a 500 year old immortal mystic hailing from Lujiang. Formerly a mortal, he found an ancient parchment in a cave with which he learnt all his mystic powers. When he was complete and he came out, he was greeted by the land in turmoil (Three Kingdoms' chaotic start). He spent his lifetime trying to help Liu Bei and Shu achieve unification, but after Wu Zhang Plains, realising that it is futile, he transformed into a crane and vanished into the darkness. That was the last time we see him. (The plus is that the older he grows, the stronger he gets.)

She was itching to get off their marriage because it was nothing but a diplomatic one and it really turned out to be a pretty shitty decision so Sun Quan took her back and the whole Jing province which was a fairly strategic settlement. It lasted roughly 3-4 years and Shangxiang wasn't even present in his death bed and he already had a replacement wife right after the divorce.

There was no historical record that she actually killed herself but knowing the fact that she despised being married diplomatically(no affections whatsoever) chances are she had no care about his death.
