I just played the demo and I can’t believe they got it right this time! The combat feels much more polished, the characters have weights, the duel system has made a return, the soundtrack is phenomenal, and the enemies finally feel more substantial. I just finished SW5 and I can see this is a major step up from the previous entries in the series.

I've been a fan since dynasty warriors 4 and have been playing every title from dynasty to samurai and orochi games. Glad that they're making it more challenging. Redemption title indeed following what happened on dw9.

HOLY SHIT! This is worlds apart from the Dynasty Warriors games we've gotten before. I especially love how the soldiers under your command are actually USEFUL here, it looks like they took some inspiration from Conquerors Blade. And the MC having amnesia is actually a pretty good way for them to potentially flicker from place to place as a wanderer who can join any side. Dead LORD I hope the game is all it's looking to be.

they had a version this in an previous entry. start as a grunt and work your way up (they also had a sub ordinate troop feature as well. Learns from EA it seems)

I miss Dynasty Warriors I grew up w/ 3 and 4 but that's it I know the Three Kingdoms: Wu (Red), Shu (Green), and Wei (Blue) Other is a different story (Yellow and Purple) So I came up with my own Chinese Han Dynasty Kingdom: Shei (Orange) It's all 6 Rainbow Colors I am always fascinated by

You are indeed correct! This game manages to both incorporate DW4-style guards and DW5-style... albeit instead of a single generic-looking general the latter now is one of nine specific DW characters.

Every game with this style never implements blood. It would feel so much better when the enemies bleed with body parts flying around. So far it looks like your attacks are very light without a feeling of heavy impact.

I know kasumi and ryu only appears in the warriors game and that and dynasty warriors are their own thing. But i think it would be cool if they are dlc characters for this. Obliviously non Canon dlc. This isn’t your traditional warriors game. The main character is who you primarily use the entire game. You can use nine other characters(across each faction) as temporary summons that you can play for a limited time

@ I think it’s important to remember that with SW5 was it necessarily a reboot but much like this game they wanted to focus on one certain thing(in that game Nobunaga). Again, I can completely understand your thought process, but if DW6 taught me anything, this is more than likely a spinoff series at best and a one time deal at worst.

The whole overworld/map thing is a WAY better way of approaching that 'open world' flavour than DW9 did. It was just too big, but shallow as a puddle. Simply didn't work with what this series is about.

I disagree wholeheartedly. For many reasons. If anything it opens up koei a path a too new open world projects in the future. Also China is vast. Of course it was going to be big. Your exploring an entire nation.

@@xenoknight7187 That's the problem. Being big didn't mean being good. It just didn't jive with the core identity of what Dynasty Warriors was, as a game series. To make DW9 they reduced all the stuff that made it fun into tiny, short, shallow, and recycled asset mini skirmishes. The rest was just repetitive filler to try and fill up that vast, empty, pointless game world. I appreciate they 'tried' to experiment with something to shake up the formula, but DW9 was a big misstep for me. This feels like a way more applicable experimentation.

I dont think it was at odds with dynasty warriors my friend, big is literally its design ethos. Its not impossible to envision a great dynasty warriors game that leans into an open world. The ACTUAL problem was they did a terrible job of making a fun open world, all the quests were nightmare mmo tier garbage, and the lifeless fights didnt help.

After Tony playing the demo for a week or more. I’m at the gate for the demo and summon guan yu. I think if he was taller and bigger or the same but his size with his height was taller and you added more enemies in a wave all together like crowded enemies I think the game would be wayyy better and much more fantasy or tighter guan yu looks small around the soldiers he needs to be taller and tower over them

Also give a game mode where it’s a nice cinematic camera and you verse millions or 500,000 or 5 million 400 million troopers and you go until you die or and or complete the waves of enemies. I only disliked the new hero bc he was weak but guan yu is strong and all I think you can make this game even better. We wouldn’t mind you giving us game features that had new files for the update of the game and we get to have the original file to see the context and work of the game

Looks like I'm going to ask you to be able to blow up my computer( unlike DW9) with how much action is gotten be off-screen this time. After all-tactics means nothing if the battle isn't actually happening. Will here hope that the PlayStation take up much space and be worth that space and not just a heavily modified mount & blade( it's still a good game compared to DW9)

I downloaded the demo and holy crap. They put way too much info on the screen at one time, I felt like I was going to have a damn panic attack. Played for like 10 minutes and my character kept jumping back on the horse ! This needs work, it's a complete mess.

After the demo play, I would say this is DYNASTY WARRIORS 9 Empires( really want to refund it) want to be. Also, i wish they would remodel the combo back to DW 6 which is the most perfect and best DW in series they had ever done instead of clicked pressed combo skills. If you use podao. It has dw warriors 6 combo (basic attack with heavy charge). While basic sword has old classic combo (different heavy finisher per basic attack)
