The 4 in-a-row DCI High Percussion recipients, The Santa Clara Vanguard, presented a clinic this November at PASIC 2019. During the clinic, Dynasty artist Paul Rennick discusses the excellence and musicianship he looks for and develops during the season. That the quality of play and musicianship can continue 3 months outside of season, with only hours to warm up and rehearse show chunks is insane. Just getting the entire line to logistically return is an accomplishment. Another wow moment.

Back in the day, we played a lot of cheeses, chatta chas, flam drags, flam fives, and grace note flams , off speed rolls , purposefully with no set up, check pattern and a lot of non down beat , implied patterns with flam rolls, and such.
