Your fan motor is broken. It should run without help and it won’t catch skeeters without the fan running. I run mine 24/7 and get tons of moths and mosquitoes. Recommend you not put it by a garden or flowering plants (I have mine in a shaded area across the yard from my garden) because it will attract Bees (both native and honey).

The fan needs oil. It's easy to fix. There'll be a sticker on one side of the fan blade, generally advertising the brand of the fan. Peel that sticker off and under it is an oil well for the fan bearings or fan sleeve. Put light oil in there. 3-in-1 should work, but if you've got lighter oil than that use it.

@@ChrisMcDowellDIY Not every fan has this, but many, perhaps a plurality, do. This type of fan often does, but not always. Computer fans, whether case fans, CPU coolers, or any other related fan virtually always have this characteristic. Oiling fans in the manner I mention will enable them to last generally at least twice as long, and in some cases, indefinitely.

They might as well include a 24" black rubber dildo in the box so there's no ambiguity about their intent when building a vertical shaft orientation sleeve bearing fan into a sealed product that will be out doors. It doesn't need to be oiled, it needs to be broken off in the ass of whatever clown designed it to fail.

I am absolutely delighted with my indoor Dynatrap. There hasn't been a single mosquito in the bedroom since I switch the device on 2 hours before going to bed and close the door! When we go to bed, I switch the device off and .... no mosquitoes!!! Of course, it only works if there is no other lighting in the room! But the Americans don't understand that, because they relentlessly leave all the lights, televisions and other things on all the time, despite energy shortages and environmental destruction. Even when they are not at home! This year we are going to set up a 1 acre Dynatrap in the garden (environmentally friendly with solar energy of course!) Let's see if my wife then has fewer mosquitoes in her garden and can work more quietly in the garden.

I'm not sure how it is supposed to catch mosquitos (even with a working fan) without an attractant. Mosquitos aren't attracted to lights like the other bugs are.

No, he's quite right. There are a couple wavelengths they are interested in, but I don't believe this is one of em. Supposedly, though, they're coated in titanium dioxide. The heat and uv supposedly causes the unit to emit co2.

I noticed at approximately the 3:41 mark, there is a mosquito flitting about next to the right midsection of the trap then just flew away. Apparently he wasn't interested in the device.

I have that one and after I shut it off after the first season the bushing or bearing in the motor sounded like crap. Took it apart and lubed it up and it improved some but didn’t completely fix it. Now after the second season sounds even worse. The light died on the second season also. If you buy one I’d advise keep it out of the rain or they won’t last. I sent them a email to see if they offer a replacement fan but I’m betting no. So I took it apart long story short the fan was stuck to the pin and the pin was stuck to the bushing which wore out the housing causing fan wobble and noise. The noise started just like this one in the video the first year. I’d highly advise if you buy one keep it out of the rain completely. Dyntrap repsonded to my question on the website question area and they claim they don’t sell fans but according to the manual they do and even listed a part number of 41052 so I may call them and talk to them directly. I called them and they refuse to sell a fan. I told them the part number is even listed in the manual as available part and even listed the part number.They claimed it’s only for the 1 year warranty period. It sounded like they outsource their calls overseas so idk if they knew what they were talking about but either way they won’t sell one. I can’t find any after market source either so once your out of warranty your screwed if it even makes it that long. This is one product I’m definitely getting an extended warranty on if I decide to buy another.

That trap probably cost them 10 blocks to make at the most. And they are ok with the fact that it does not catch mosquitos as they advertise. Because they are making a lot of money off people that believe it does.

Why didn't you get an attractant with your purchase? I just bought the T200, which is supposed to be the new version and i get a green attractant tub with it. But i also saw the old version have it. Its the one who attracts the mosquitos. You won't attract them without it!

Mine only catches moths. Have never found any mosquitos. Change the light element, but still nothing

My fan has worked for 2 years straight. You got a dud, should have reached out to them immediately. Whether you fil out warranty cards or not you have a one year warranty from purchase.

Those fans are simple fans similar to those used in cooking desktop computers. They are flimsy but you can order the same size online or buy an old computer and replace it. Problem solved. I did that with mine and has worked now for years.

Mosquitoes are not attracted to UV light so this kills beneficial bugs more than pests.

I hope it has improved. I just paid $72.40. mine opens by a push Butten on the bottom. haven't got it yet. Also got a Bell & Howell Monster Trapper with Internal pro. so far so good. on the Bell & Howell.

it won't work inside, i think it actually says on the package or info that it isnt meant to be used inside. Reason why is, it attracts based on smell and co2. If inside, your own smell and co2 is much stronger than the trap so it wont work. While on the outside, the trap is going to be outside longer than you, and when your gone, it traps them.

Im returning mine back to Home Depot because after 3 days, the fan started making weird noise and the next day it wouldn't even turn on. It's overpriced, honestly and they expect you to buy a bulb replacement every 4 months? Nope

No, it’s not activated like that. It should run nonstop. First time I used it, the fan automatically came on and ran fine. Just failed way early.
