Okay here is the deal with this thing. I did the same thing u did put kinda close to back door and caught mainly moths. Then I moved it farther from the house next to bushes and trees. A week later the thing was full of mosquitoes. More mosquitoes than any other bug. Now months later and the 🦟 population is drastically smaller.

Sounds like maybe you have a location problem. As this device is designed to attract mosquitos and then suck them into the basket, having it installed at your door or on your patio where you sit is likely calling the mosquitos to come bite you. The back of your yard is likely the best spot - attracts the mosquitos away from your patio. Give that a try and let us know.

Mine catches lots of moths and other bugs, but rarely mosquitos. I have the Dynatrap XL and after about 4 years it has never been a good mosquito catcher for me but those who say it is, may have a different species that are actually attracted to the light. I'm about 15 mins north of San Antonio and the best mosquito control I have found is filling my wheel barrow half way and letting the water sit a couple days. Once its conditioned to the elements, I look really closely and find mosquito egg rafts every day and remove them. At the beginning of the season I typically remove about 2000 eggs per day, no joke! Sometimes around 10,000. If any larvae become present, I sprinkle in Mosquito Bits to quickly kill them without ruining the conditioned water. I used to get at least 10 bites per evening but now I rarely get bitten in my yard since doing this method. As long as you only have one source of standing water, you can have really good control over their reproduction. Remember, you're not " attracting" mosquitos. They're already there and if you don't catch them, they'll use your neighbors bird baths and other water sources to reproduce. After about 2 months, the amount of eggs I find is slim to none each day due to pretty much breaking the breeding cycle. I have devoted serious time and effort to mosquito control in Texas and I will tell you this is by far, the single most effective way to actually decrease the population. Yea it takes 5 mins a day to check it but my friends never complain about getting bit in my yard.
@latenightdiy14962 жыл бұрын
@Gabe what blows my mind is how you can actually believe there will be “No“ standing water. You can dump everything and they will always find a place. My neighbors on both sides have bird baths and whatever else. Also I monitor the pool every day so no, I haven’t created a successful breeding pool. It’s a dead end for them. I’ve lived on the property for 11 years so I’m the one who knows the positive difference I’ve made. It used to be unbearable but now I rarely ever get bitten. The main reason people don’t try methods like mine is due to laziness.

Eh i've tried their products and not really satisfied with this company product since having to buy a few of the replacement bulb model DT1120 to constantly burn out with in 2 months even tho the company claims the bulb will last 2.5 years is kind of shady or misleading I mean for +$21.00 I would expect the bulbs to actually work as intended but after buying 5 replacement bulbs I just stopped using the product entirely (maybe I'm just unlucky in not getting defected bulb) and seems to have a good push towards a bug trap that actually dose not make noise (this product does work just having to pay more $$$ than needed defeats the purpose of paying for a product that has defects as in their bulbs)

Dynatrap has worked for me. I have a small stream in my back yard that attracts so many mosquitos. We leave this running as soon as the snow melts all spring summer fall for three years. It has decimated the mosquito population. The key is to have it out asap in the spring to catch the females before they breed. Also, keep it about 12 feet from where you hang out in the back yard so it gets the mosquitos away from you. I still use coils and tikis for parties but this product has really helped. It won’t help if you put it out for a party because it’s basically like having another human there attracting the mosquitos. You need to use repellants for that. This brings down your mosquito population in general. I also find it works better low and near my plants vs in an open area.
@fortworthclaimsadjusters95852 жыл бұрын
💯 disagree with this assessment. I live on a golf course with a pond out back and have two traps. Zero mosquitoes now. I think the main issue is you are not replacing the bulbs as required. Maybe I missed it if you said it, but the bulbs are coated with a substance that breaks down from the UV and off gasses. That’s what draws the mosquitoes. They don’t care about the UV light otherwise a bug zapper would kill them and it doesn’t. I replace my bulbs monthly ($10) and it’s a heck of a deal. Perfect performance and I don’t have to spray off on every time I go outside. Believe it or not, I called a mosquito company looking to pay 70-100 on average for them to spry my yard. They said because of the pond and golf course they could never keep up and couldn’t guarantee the results. THEY turned me onto this product. Best ever!
