Nada Hindiyeh, MD, Metrodora Institute, West Valley City, UT, discusses the cardiovascular symptoms that can be experienced by patients with migraine. Symptoms of autonomic dysfunction are common in patients with migraine, both during and between migraine attacks. Examples include heart palpitations, orthostatic intolerance, and chronic dizziness. Autonomic disorders, including postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and orthostatic hypotension (OH), are commonly seen alongside hypermobility spectrum disorders, and mast cell activation syndrome, all of which are prevalent in patients with migraine. Diagnosis and treatment of these complex disorders in patients with migraine is essential to comprehensive patient-centric care. This interview took place at the American Headache Society (AHS) Annual Meeting 2024 in San Diego, CA.
