In this video I discuss why people with dyslexia and other learning disabilities have such difficulty reading, spelling, and writing short connecting words like “the, them, and, was”. What Ron Davis discovered about these words and how the Davis program deals with them.

I'm super curious to see how you'd model with clay words like "the" or "an"!!!

There are examples of what we call Symbol Master, modelling words like "the" or "an" in Ron Davis books. When someone does a program the facilitator will have a training session will the client and the person who will help them at home to explain how to do this work.

If you did a Davis program to help with your dyslexia I know it would improve your reading greatly. I am not sure if the Davis method would help with the schizophrenia that would be exploratory thing for you, your doctor and your facilitator. I do think that it would not hurt to try (under supervision with doctor particularly concerning medication) as you could stop at any time if you found it was not helpful. If you do decide to do a Davis program make sure you are open and discuss the extent of your schizophrenia and your needs with your facilitator.

This is amazing, the words that I leave out when writing are these trigger non-picture words.

Yes it is amazing and so simple once you realize it. If you go to the main Davis website you can find the nearest facilitator to you.

@@xiomanaxoxoxo3212 Then you might want to use Davis or suggest to his parents they do Davis and then you help with the homework. You could also read Ron Davis book I think you would be helpful. You may also find video #4 on my channel helpful.

You are soooo generous with your sharing, and it is soooo appreciated. I'm helping out a family who are struggling with their son's learning and am doing the Davis program from the book, and your videos are helping me so much. Know that you are making a big difference with your knowledge, experience, clear presentation of the ideas and your generosity.

My daughter and I both have difficulties over writen words, it become very whelming, "what is it really telling me". In highschool I started reading my text books outloud at home. When I do her work with her and read it to her, she comes not only the correct answer but much faster. She does math online though IXL Math, I left her to do it on her own once and it took her 45 minutes, it should have taken her 15-20 minutes. I just read her the questions and she provides the answer.

Hi Fathom, thank you for you comment. It sounds like you would benefit from talking to a Davis facilitator. I think you and daughter would find Davis very helpful. If you follow the link in the description for the Davis International website you can find a provider closest to you.

I am interested in having my son take the program in our area, I suffer from Dyslexia as well. Do you recommend that I take the 30 hrs course Dyslexia workshop from the website that you listed? And then walk my son through it? My mother that is an excellent reader and also offered to do the workshop and then teach my son. Is that how the workshop works? Once you take the workshop will you be able to help other dyslexic students or do you have to have other requirements ? Im just trying to figure out what is the difference between taking my child to the 5 day intensive program taught by the individual in our area and the workshop that is offered from the Davis International. Thanks for your time!

Hi Victoria, thank you for your questions. The answers to your questions are quite long, I recommend that you call the nearest Davis facilitator to you and talk with them, they will be happy to answer your question. You could also contact Davis international and talk with them as well.
