I have similar hair to yours naturally curly and I have blonde highlights and also have the Dyson Airwrap. I use the highest heat and just lower the fan speed if it's giving me too much frizz. The Airwrap is sensing the heat so it's not as hot a regular heat tool and since you applied heat protectant you should be good. For my hair I have to use tension to keep it straight and the firm brush works better for a smoother look the smoothing brush made my hair frizzy. I've realized that for my hair I have to barely towel dried hair it looks like your hair is too dry. If you hair is wet to really smooth the frizz as well as use a few frizz products like a lightweight blowout cream, oil, heat protectant, Colorwow dream coat helps with humidity and to smooth it out (there's a dupe at Sally's), a thickening serum that has a medium hold. Then always finish with the cool setting and run it through your hair to set the style and it adds some shine. I use the firm brush to dry the top and when the bottom is slightly dry I usually use the small barrel curling attachment to curl the ends rolling it back and forth to get tension. If you want root volume dry under your sections of hair first and if using a curling barrel move it back and forth in the opposite direction. I hope this helps this is what I've been learning with the Airwrap and how it works for my hair. I only wash my hair 1-2xs a week.
