Actually this fan does not have air filtration. So it won't help remove pollen or allergy causing particles (I own one of these fans).

I'm starting to think everybody who's ever reviewed a Dyson fan is payed off by Dyson. I bought an AM08 and it's awful. It blows less air than a regular cheap fan and it's terribly noisy. And yet, every test and review I can find about Dyson fans say they're awesome. I don't get it.

Probably, it's on the floor after all, where all the dust is. I didn't use it for that long though, just for a couple of days, before I sent it back. Now I have a tiny cheap plastic fan that I'm borrowing from a friend. I have it set on the lowest setting. I can't hear it, and it blows at least 5 times more air than the Dyson fan did.

You're not the only one I got the AM08 and found its performance lacking even at the max setting, I got my $600 back and got are $100 hella brand fan which pushes more air on number 1 then the AM08 did on number 10 and I can barely hear it.

Basically pass high speed air through a baffle. Apparently Dyson didn't invent this type of fan and tried to patent it after the original patent expired but was refused as his design showed no innovation. The "innovation" on his new application seems to be the contouring of the inner surface (the wing design). Of course, every fan moves more air than passes through the blades unless it is blowing air into a vacuum. Blow into the air, how much air do you think you move, is it just the air you exhaled or are you moving all the air around and in front of your breath? I can't believe people fell for this.

I can't help but notice that they didn't hold the dry ice up to the other fan. I wonder why? I also noticed that the Dyson seemed pathetically weak when moving the air. It looks like it only moved about 5 feet. With a tiny fan blade, I guess I'm not surprised that it doesn't move much air. As far as cleaning goes, how do you clean the inside tube parts that the air moves through?

What is it multiplying ? The output of a tiny fan, which would be useless as a room fan. So you take a tiny fan, multiply its output, to give the same output as a conventional fan. Its a convincing slight of hand. The dyson costs 15 times as much as a conventional fan. Now which would be better; 15 conventional fans or one dyson? The answer is 15 conventional fans - they would produce a gale instead of a breeze!

"there's no fan in it ". Then how does it move the air it has a fan in it and when the fan gets dirty you have to unscrew alot of screws just to reach a small fan and clean it where as the Normal one can be cleaned easily and can move more air and save electricity because the Dyson has to work way harder to produce the same air flow as a normal fan and it should sound louder than the normal one

Given that the science of how air moves is a tricky subject, this sales pitch is not too inaccurate. " Amplifying the air " is bit misleading; air is being forced through an annular duct over the top edge of an aerofoil shape which induces a zone of lowered pressure. This in turn causes extra air to be entrained into the big hole. The result is a lowering of the aggregated air velocity through the device, which is steady and is moving slower than the blast of air moving from a typical conventional fan. Obviously another advantage is that a child no longer risks injury by putting its finger into the turning fan blades. The cleverest part is the design of the high speed motor and also how well-engineered is the impeller which it drives. A conventional fan actually adds heat to the room due to heat loss from the motor. In the Dyson unit these losses are minimized. As to price - well ! Usually in life you get what you pay for.

I know I may have taken my initial comment to the extreme since the amount of dry ice they used for their demonstration wasn't enough to cause any serious harm to the host in the environment they were in.
