Thank you very much for mentioning the exact tool (Torx T15) needed to remove the screws for the Duct Cover.

Do you think the modern Dyson cordless machines are good? Or do you prefer the older models like this one?
@markbennett665827 күн бұрын
@@blakaeg I personally prefer the new cordless Dysons for manoeuvrability and ease of use. My wife still sticks with the old corded ones including the example featured in the video. The only caveat is I believe Dyson started using customers as beta testers on the early cordless machines. We have a V6. It’s very prone to blockages, particularly in the cleaning head, the bin is too close to the cyclone shroud meaning the dust doesn’t drop out easily necessitating removing the clear bin completely, frequently. In addition it’s difficult to line the bin back up to clip it onto the cyclone. It’s still a good machine in many ways but I think a V10 onwards where the bin is in line would probably be better?

@@markbennett6658The new cordless are good for moving around in the home. Though I’ve had issues with the wheels snapping off on a V15 and seem others mention it. The durability could be a little better, but overall I do like them. The cyclone technology scaled down in the cordless do an excellent job at filtering the dust out of the air. I’ve always found Dyson very interesting products since I first used the DC02.

Cheers Mark!! I seen where you commented on a 280z video from Number 27 channel and was just gonna recommend you check out the latest build video on my channel. We bought a cheap 240z to build using motor and trans from a 280z!!

Thanks I’ll check it out👍 I was a big Z guy myself back in the day. I had a 260Z 2 seater 1978 and a 240Z with a 2.8 engine with ported head, Janspeed exhaust manifold (headers), triple 45 Dellortos etc. I worked with William Galliers (now Wheels Of Old Ltd) and had close associations with Spike Anderson (Samuri Conversions) and wrote a small section in a Z book. I’ll leave a comment on your channel when I’ve had a look at your build 👍

What is the name of the part that holds up the stand. The little plastic piece broke. In the beginning of your video you had the part I need. It was the second common breaking point you mentioned. Is that the "stand assembly"? How do I get that part? DC15 upright yellow ball dyson like this video or similar
@markbennett66582 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for your comment. Please refer to the reply I gave to “Riss T” who commented previously. I left a link. It’s called a ‘U bend pipe assembly. The issue as I alluded to in the video is that the DC15 is obsolete and Dyson don’t support it parts wise. You’ll have to go the eBay route or possibly try Manchester Vacs if they’re still about. Good second hand parts will be extremely scarce particularly considering the faults I showed are the common ones and the DC15 is otherwise built like a tank. Ours is still going strong two years later! Best of luck and I’m still trying to make time to create further videos. Hopefully soon 🤞

Do you know what the name is of the piece at the bottom that you showed? I'm pretty sure that's what I need to replace on mine. Something snapped and now it won't stand.

I believe it’s called a ‘U bend pipe assembly’ which is part ‘I’ if you follow this link cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1681/2335/files/DC15-Valve-Assembly-Schematic.jpg?9896319216922904827. The big part I replaced is the ‘duct assembly’ I’m not sure you can get the smaller part new. I’d actually try contacting Manchester Vacs for advice who run a Dyson Forum and may be able to supply the part second hand if you can’t get a new one. Have a look on eBay as well. The trouble is this is a fragile component and it might be hard to get a good one. Best of luck

I've got this model of Dyson and the handle and spine snapped in half where can I find a replacement spine plz let me know
@markbennett66588 ай бұрын
Unfortunately they’re made of ‘unobtainium’. Dyson don’t provide long term parts support for older models. I did this repair 3 or 4 years ago and had trawled through eBay for a long time to find the donor part. This is one of the few weaknesses of what’s otherwise a very strong model. Keep trying eBay or FB for somebody selling the part or a machine with a different fault. It might be possible if you’ve got the piece that has broken off to heat weld/staple and or otherwise bond and reinforce it together to give it a second life. It’s a pity old consumer electrical appliances aren’t better supported.

Mine snapped just like you said at the beginning, and you nailed it at the end - sourcing a replacement spine seems to be near impossible. RIP my DC15.

We did manage to keep using ours broken for some time. The wand would lock the broken parts together enough to keep using it. Downstairs only mind you because it would come apart if lifted. Unfortunately it is the key fail point the rest being very robust. All the eBay sellers breaking them said no chance but I was patient and persisted and got one for about £25 in the end!

@@kaomay2 I don’t believe so. The brush bar has a separate motor that drives it directly via gears I think.
