I cannot thank you enough for this. My wife had this on my to-do list ever since I disassembled our Dyson and replaced several other parts - with the main issue being the motor in the vacuum’s head. Through all of that work, I screwed up this exact step and our vacuum would no longer stand independently. You just saved me from receiving countless more passive aggressive comments, more exclamation points on my “honey-do list”, (all that added an indescribable amount of anxiety and stress for myself) and quite possibly saved my overall marriage. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are a godsend.

I am greatly appreciative of you and your time taking this video. I had this problem for a while now, and yesterday, I was able to fix it using your video. The Upright Lock part was hard to find, but I eventually found one. Again Thank you for the video.

I replaced both parts, as you showed, however, the back leg doesn't not retract up automatically. If I push down on it, it does lock into place. I can't seem to find what provides the spring mechanism to lower that back leg. Do you have any ideas?

OK - so I took my dyson to pieces and inspected the parts. Luckily I had the star screwdriver - its not a cross point. Anyhow when I got the cover off my DC70 was different design and it was obvious at 5.57 that the bit he put in wasn't broken in my machine. However the locking mechanism obviously was not working. Having inspected the grab mechanism it was clear to me that something has to force the left side of the flange upwards to engage the spring and hold the back wheels in place. looking at the cover plate which is different in the DC70 which closes up the gap as the wheels go forward to the upright position it occurred to me I needed something to force the retaining flange up. I drilled a hole where there is an obvious contact point on that cover plate and inserted a short bolt . When I upright the handle this now engages the spring mechanism and holds everything in place.

I changed the internal hose on a 65. Since then, the hose has no suction. It’s not clogged, I’ve checked it thoroughly. What else could it be? Is there a switch that would not allow it to switchover?

Thanks for your video. v informative. I have this DC17 MACHINE. Have a problem with it. the vertical part is stuck with the horizontal part at 90 degree and vertical part would not recline. I have to use lot of force to do that and it would make a loud sound when doing it. I feel something might break while putting force on the horizontal part to get rid of the stuck part. do you know what might be wrong with this stuck problem here. thanks. is there a way i can contact you over the phone. thanks.
