Here in Canada, Dyson sells the Absolute model, so you get the soft brush for the wooden floors. I'm happy with the vacuum. Getting rid of the stuff in the dustbin is good, you point the vacuum into the your trash can, push the red tab under the dustbin away from you, and the front of the vacuum opens and the dirt gets shot out, no muss, no fuss. The suction on the Dyson is pretty strong, great in the car, but it does give your forearm a work out.

Aim Harry I had the same problem. It's embarrassing for me to say but I have long hair and so does my wife and we both lose a lot of hair and I have curly thick hair too. I bought the V11 torque drive on black Friday (2019) and ended up returning it in December. The thing kept getting stuck and I would have to remove the stupid head every time to unjam it; needless to say I was very frustrated. I saw the tineco S12 plus on this channel and I was really hesitant to buy it because it's Chinese and I don't really trust their service in US but to my surprise it is so much better than the Dyson. It's not as powerful but it's also not as loud and the attachments are sooo amazing. You can literally use the vacuum to clean everything as long as you're not cleaning water or anything wet. I use it to clean my car too. The soft roller is the best thing for hard floors. The hair do get Tangled in the carpet attachment but I'd say it's 80% less than with Dyson in my experience. And it comes with two batteries! It is just as expensive as V11 torque drive though at regular price. Sorry for the long comment. Hope it helps!

What would be interesting to know is when the suction power starts to have diminishing returns. In the video you said that their cleanup is about the same but one is better in suction, so it would be nice to know what the cutoff is for suction.

Excellent video, as always. The scientific approach to the testing makes your channel a go to place when deciding which product to buy. I just have a additional category when considering which vacuum to buy. Given these vacuums are similarly priced and the results are a tossup, I would then give a thought about brand name because of the resale value. In case you decide in the future, let's say four years, to buy a new vacuum, Dyson will fetch you a better resale value than some different less known brand since Dyson has a strong premium brand name. So in this instance I would prefer Dyson since later on I would spend "less" buying new one as the old one would be worth more.

I sometimes feel like "large debris" (cerial) get slightly over emphasied in the reviews. Maybe this is just me but generally I'll just sweep up chunky stuff like that: way quicker that getting the vacuum out for a bunch of fruit loops. Conversely I want the vacuum to pick up dust and deep clean the carpet. Just an opinion but I notice some high suction vacuums get flack for the large debris test.
@muazqamar

@@marym6939 If your kids are anything like mine, there is always "wetter" food stuck to the floor (we have tile, but used to have wood and it was the same problem). The idea of gumming up the insides of a dyson with something like blueberries or macaroni noodles doesn't sound appealing. I'm leaning more toward getting a floor sweeper (those square sweepers with rotating brushes) combined with the power of a steam mop for stuck on messes. Dyson on carpet or for completely dry messes? Absolutely.

i agree! I knew this since I got a Dyson like fluffy/soft roller head. It is excellent in picking up large objects, so good it also picks up rugs, plugs, toys, slippers, only to jam the head! I also found it to use a lot more battery with less suction. It also has the tendency to kick/fling hard tiny debris out of the way. it also weaker on edges.

I got rid of my v10, 3 months after getting it, and got a v11 just because my ears died every time I turned the v10 on. Also the Dyson has a much bigger dirt bin than most other cordless vacuums. I also find I actually like the extra weight of the v11. It just makes it feel solid and premium and not like some plasticky toy.

I think the deal breaker for me is the extra swappable battery on the Tineco. I know Dyson has an edge in the suction power, but being able to easily remove the battery and have another one readily available is a nice benefit (also throwing in an extra filter helps too). I had the very fiirst Dyson cordless(DC35) and the battery was easily removable with a push button release and it's a hassle now to take out the battery on their next gen cordless by undoing 2 tiny screws. I also had the first gen Motorhead, and currently have the V8 and the V10 Motorhead. The battery on my V8 has become discharged so I hardly use it anymore(looking to sell it as soon as I get a new battery replacement). The S12 may not be as powerful as the V11, but still has more power than the V10 and I thought that was crazy powerful enough. I hardly use my corded DC65 anymore unless I have serious cleaning work to do all over the home. The convenience of using a powerful cordless is too addicting.

Excellent comparison video. This is how every product comparison video should be: empirical, valid testing procedures, and concise. I do wish there was more attention paid to maneuverability and ergonomics related to its ability to get into and under tight spaces. I've sacrificed a lot of other performance features over the years for vacuums that could get under my couch and low bed frame while keeping the brush cleaner head on the ground (many pop up even if they can get under) or get around kitchen table and chair legs.

Dyson or Tienco, it does not matter much because it's so easy to empty the bins. The real question to ask is cleaning the whole filtration system. To be honest with my Tienco. Leaning towards the V11 here, but wondering what the difference is between the "full-size" brush on the S12 M version, and the and "direct-drive" brush on the S12 standard version. The former (if it had adequate performance) brings the price point way down, making that the value leader.

Along with testing decibel level (which I hear the V11 is 30% quieter than the V10 from another reviewer, which is huge if it is), was always curious if vacuuming ashes from a fireplace would be okay or ruin your vacuum. This especially so for these high end ones that don't leak out all the dust particles, which would be heaven sent for ashes if it did work without breaking the vacuum.... would make cleaning the fireplace out (of course after the ashes cool off, preferably days later) so much easier. Please do some tests in this vein if possible.

I got the Tineco s12 and am unfortunately disappointed. The bin gets full fast and with really dirty carpets the “air passage blocked” warning kept coming on and the vacuum smelled like what it was picking up. So much for the sealed hepa filter. I contacted Tineco and I followed their troubleshooting steps but it didn’t help. I don’t know if cordless stick vacuums just aren’t meant for really REALLY dirty carpets(no liquids just full of dirt and sand) or if mine is defective. But now when I fire it up, it always says air passage blocked and the air being spit out from the motor smells like the stuff it’s vacuuming. I’m hoping to get a refund and switch over to the Dyson.

After owning both Tineco and Dyson I'm choosing Dyson. The Dyson cleans better and doesn't leave me having to clean the vacuum. The Tineco's have that central filter in the bin that needs to be cleaned regularly to get any performance from the the vacuum. Its messy and you need to either wash it or blow it out with a compressor to clean it properly. The Tineco tool they give you to clean it with the vacuum is kind of a joke. It doesn't work very well. The design of the Dyson is far superior. They don't lose suction. Tons of power all the time and I don't have to clean a filter after every 30 minutes of use to be able to pick up some dirt again.

I just unpacked and used my tineco s12 today. The dyson v11 isn't on sale basically anywhere even on black friday and cyber monday deals. I searched basically everywhere. Still $700. The tineco non plus version is on sale right now on amazon for $450. Let me just tell you... this tineco vacuum is amazing. Like seriously amazing. From 5 minutes of vacuuming it deep cleaned the carpets so much so that we had to empty it 4 times because of all the dog hair it got. We have an american eskimo dog, which is a long haired dog. After having him for a year and not having a proper vacuum, this is expected. We were so surprised how much it got. This place has never smelt, felt, nor looked this clean since it was built. The hair is finally gone and not sticking to every piece of clothing and blankets possible. I'm finally free of the pet hair and dust! And hardly any of that hair stuck on the attachment itself. Some did, but tineco makes it super easy to clean the brush off which took 5 seconds to do. They make it so easy to clean it too! I wouldn't spend the extra money on the plus version unless you seriously need the soft roller. We don't because we don't eat anything like that we would need it for. Even if we did... use a broom. Seriously, stick with the regular model. Saves tons of money. Easy installment on the wall too! It also isn't an eye sore. This is an attractive vacuum.

Over all I still like my Sharks... corded hand held and Apex Duo with Zero M. They have great attachments but honestly I rarely use anything but the crevasse tool with brush slide on it. I won't buy battery operated vacs I simply think it isn't worth the money. Though I may be tempted if Shark puts out a Apex Duo with Zero M and great battery life in the future. I never say never but I know vacuums and Dysons have the suction but it cuts my arms off in versatility... and price. Just not worth it. I'll take a few more passes with the Shark, save money and time. Which we all know one is the other. Smiles and blessings...

How do you find the shark with duo head and zero m? do you find it picks the dust up well? I thought the dyson v10/11 had slightly more suction power. but the duo head I tried does not have zero m part... if you use it for industrial use, do you find it holds up well to the heavy use? it def picks up better next to wall sills does it get the fine fluff stuck on carpets? I get sick of taking my power head of (cheap vacuum) to get most of what my vac misses. oh and Shark in Australia mentioned discontinuing battery powered units, when I spoke to them yesterday. :(

@@kgirlandmyhealthfix5582 The Shark Apex has both. Yes, Dyson owns the market for suction but what good is it if you have to fenagle with different attachments to use the darn thing on every different rug, carpet, surface etc... Now a days competitors really keep up with great suction. Shark is one. I love that I can go from hard to rugs to carpet without unattaching...or attaching anything new to my Sharks. The soft roll in front practically cleans my hard surface, like it was wiped not just vacuumed. There's always pluses and minuses with each option. But I for one am done shelling out big bucks for the heavy Dysons with needs to "tone down" the suction with different attachments thus making it twice as time consuming to clean. Unless you have a cleaning business, I don't think everyone needs Dysons suction capacity. Just my opinion, as one who had a cleaning business for almost 20 years and did use Dyson because each home was different and the build up of dirt in those cylinders do effect the suction after 2-3 houses a day. But for home use... they just aren't needed... and I have 6 cats and say that. Simple up keep and maintenence on a "lesser" suctioned vacuum, even smaller canister keeps my Shark doing an amazing job in my home of 60% hard surface/ area and throw rugs 40% carpet in bedrooms 1500 sq ft home... again in the desert (very dusty) with 6 cats. To me its about just pulling the vacuum out and getting it done without changing heads and attachments. Most of their hoses are easy to detach and edge with without needing attachments as well. But I will say their mini motorized head for animal fur on couches is the bomb! Worth the effort to attach. Their low profile attachment for under appliances and very thin surfaces that go way back... the best! They have several duster attachments and what not, which are nice but not nessessary... the edger with sliding brush does 90% of my detailing. I love my Sharks verses the Dyson... and I can vouch for both. Dyson sucks the heck outta stuff, but it also isn't needed for the average homeowner. Hope that helps.

I bought a V11 about 3 months ago, love the thing. But I wanted to point out that you might be able to get the soft roller for free if you go directly to Dyson. Their customer service is some of the best I've experienced and they really support people who believe in their products. When I made the V11 purchase I really stressed my interest in the soft head and they sent me one from Europe free of charge. It took an extra week to get the soft head but it blew me away that they would add that to my already discounted vacuum for free and include an extra set of tools on top of that. Always go directly to Dyson (via phone is the best in my opinion) when making a Dyson purchase.

I believe it. I almost went with the V11 in copper and they threw in both packages of attachments plus the wall mount. Sadly when we were finalizing she tells me omg you’re not gonna believe this but we just sold our last copper V11...so I ended up with the Tineco Wish I had waited. The Tineco gave up on me on one really dirty carpet. If I had to make multiple trips to dump the junk it was picking up ok not a problem. But it was also giving the air passage blocked warning which meant I had to disassemble the bin and filter and clean it all out, but it STILL gave the warning and the air the motor spits out smells like what it’s picking up. Pretty upset about it all.

Should i go for a cordless vacuum?? I have a big house with dust coming in everyday. I vacuum and then i have to wipe the floors with water, which is a tedious process. Should i upgrade to the shark , which also polishes (corded), or should the V11 (cordless) be sufficient? I have one piece of rug and multiple sofas in the house.

If have a large house I would always recommend a mains powered vacuum cleaner. But if you are cleaning just hard floors then running the V11 on low Eco mode will last long enough. Bare in mind that batteries wear out and will require replacement in a few years.

Absolutly correct! Dyson has the best cyclonic separation technology on market! I think to maintain good suction performance you have to clean Tineco's Prefilter more often! As long Tineco Vacuums are not much cheaper than dyson i dont see any reason to buy them!

One negative to the S12 is that it is hard to clean under the furniture, beds, etc., as when you lower the wand towards the floor, the power head goes up fairly quickly. Dyson is more flexible to clean under the bed.
@owencarey606
@owencarey606 5 жыл бұрын
I think the main reason the dyson doesn't include the soft roller is because the torque drive head is able to clean hard floors and carpet. Also, i guess 100% hard floor homes are more common in the UK which is why they would include that
@curtisbme
@curtisbme 5 жыл бұрын
No, hardwood and tile is extremely common here. They don't include it so they can take a high margin product and make massive amounts more by charging the price a full stand alone vacuum would cost just for a plastic brush head.

Tineco's customer support for consumers outside of the US (I'm located in Canada) is really poor. You cannot buy most of the replacement components from the Canadian website, even though they are in stock in on the US site (and the US site will convert currencies - it just won't work for shipping). There's a phone number you call that goes unanswered, and email correspondence is very slow with getting one reply per 24 hours that comes in between 2am-4am EST. Just a heads up for anyone else like me who isn't in the US, and who is trying to choose between the S12 and a Dyson!

That replaceable battery is a really nice feature. I have a Dyson cordless, which is just over a year old, and already the battery life is just over half what it used to be. A google search showed this to be a common problem with the Dyson. A replaceable battery is something I really would value.
@benster5
@benster5 5 жыл бұрын
That's the problem with rechargeable lithium ion batteries. Their life discharges over time and extended use. I've had to get a new battery replacement every year for all my Dyson cordless I've owned. I've had my V10 for almost a year so I'm seeing how long that battery goes before it starts to lose its life.
@curtisbme
@curtisbme 5 жыл бұрын
This is why they make them sealed even though you can see from the design that they could have been made swappable just like all the common power tools. You are out of warranty after a year and they can try to get you to "upgrade" after that.

@IDoNotLikeHandlesOnYT 4 жыл бұрын

There is one thing I'd love for you to test. I want to see if the V11 torque drive head would work on the V10. I asked Dyson, they said it uses the same electric connection so it would but couldn't tell me more. I know the torque head wouldn't give anymore power to the V10, but I want the new head with the opening gates. This would make the soft roller head redundant for me and would be loads better. Any chance you could test the V11 head on the V10 please?
