Generally, I would default to a reviewer having some ulterior motive, pushing whatever product they're reviewing. But you do a fantastic job at presenting objective, non-biased, factual reviews- and being someone that works in analysis, I absolutely respect your process and have (0) reservations with adhering to your recommendation. Please keep up the amazing job!

I got a V8 about 2 weeks ago, and this video just convinced me I made the right choice over the V10. I was debating whether the extra $300 premium was worth it for the slightly higher torque engine, but this video just convinced me that it's not. They perform pretty much exactly the same, and the areas where the V10 wins, the value isn't worth $300 extra.

I’ve had a V8 for a week, and am very impressed. It’s a better value than the V10, and effectively cleans as well on carpet at normal setting as a V10 does at medium setting. For $399 versus $699, it’s an easy choice, even if not getting as strong a battery or the torque cleaning power. Extra bells and whistles of V10 are a stretch, IMO, at a $300 premium. With $$$ to burn, absolutely go for the V10, though!

The main problem with Dyson cordless cleaners is that they don't last. People write good reviews on Amazon in the first week and then return to give Dyson one star on Trustpilot after a year or two. With cordless tech Dyson became quite aggressive on planned obsolescence and design them for maximising their own profit in a long run.
@randomrazr
@randomrazr 6 жыл бұрын
@oleg, the issue is the battery is not removable nor replacacble. u could ahve double run time with an extra battery to swap but nope. not like dewalt tools when u can do that. shame though, i just picked up the v8, i know it wont last, but its hella conviencent for car cleaning and stairs.

Great video ! And you forgot to mention that both are fitted with a hepa filter, so combined with the cyclones the air coming out of the exhaust is cleaner than the air you breath. Most other vacuums suck up dust and dirt and the finer stuff just get blown back out into the room

Thanks. A battery longevity test of the V8 on low power with powered attachment would be useful since that is the likely use case. I have the V8 and that’s how it’s used 90% of the time. In fact, on high power, the exhaust air blows too much stuff around. I was never impressed with Dyson until I tried the V8. It’s compact size, maneuverability and NO CORD make it a winner in my book. And I’ve been using it for several years.

@@masochistarch1311 I gave the V8 to a family member 6 months ago and at the time it was still working fine and I assume it still is. The battery life did decrease after quite a few years and I spent less than $50 bucks on Amazon for a replacement. Still no complaints about that vacuum and I'd have another Dyson. In fact, I do have another Dyson - the Omniglide. It's OK, but not as useful as the V8.

Good review. But no one mentions that Max mode is for stubborn dirt spots. It's not designed to be used on Max all the time of to vacuum your rooms with it on as you only wear out the battery. Also if used on Max for the duration, allow a few minutes before you put it on charge to prolong the battery life as that battery will get very warm in max.

I think some of the newer dyson floor heads (such as the torque head) are good examples of why you don’t necessarily need to turn off the brushroll on hard floors, you just need a floor head that’s sealed to the floor. In the video clip of the v8 (i think) picking up coffee grounds, it didn’t seem to spit them out of the back side of the head.

I think the V10 with the carpet head featuring the adjustable gates looks like it just pushes debris around the carpet. I've seen it on other reviews too. I have a V8 and it doesn't push much around at all. Looks like they tried to fix a problem that didn't exist as most will use the soft brush head for hard floors anyway.

Dyson would make alot more money if they made a 6 metre cable that you could plug into the charge port and use it from mains power instead of battery nl chance im spending 500 pounds on a vaccum that a battery will have to be replaced every year the reason dyson sell loads of upright vaccums is because they last 10 to 15 years

The auto shut off feature has nothing to do with the bin being full. Also, the online format doesn’t really improve airflow as the air still has to twist and turn in the cyclones so it’s not straight through and also low power does NOT clean like a corded upright vacuum cleaner does!

There is a design floor on the handle/trigger guard on the V8 as mine cracked and the v10 looks similar design, so check yours. The battery on my v8 failed after a year or so, noticed that on full power the battery lasted about 30 seconds. Was none too impressed and complained to Dyson about possibility of having to buy new expensive battery every 14 months, which in my book is just not on!That said I love my v8 as I have 2 long haired German shepherds and it gets used a lot....an awful lot. Split trigger body section replaced under warranty at about 11 months and still awaiting new battery from Dyson free of charge ( no pun intended)which is in the post . Let’s hope genuine battery costs come down in price. These machines in my view work best with the powered attachments and without them , well, they’re pretty poor really , only my opinion though. Would I buy again.....yup .

My current Dyson does well where it fits. We don't have a lot of big stuff on our tile. Mainly just dust/pet hair and cat litter. I can not pick between the V8 Animal or spend more for the Absolute. Questions: 1) I just ordered a refurbished V8 Absolute off ebay for $225 with free shipping that has all parts/accessories in original box, is supposedly in excellent working and aesthetic condition and doesn't look used at all. Should it break on me, can a reputable local vacuum store/repair shop (that sells them) repair standard problems easily enough, or did Dyson make them to be next to impossible to repair? 2) Since the main brush head (?) on the V10 is better, can I track one down someday and use it on the V8? I'm not good about vacuuming super often so when I do, there's usually quite the mess (and we have a large dog). Because of that, I'll never want to vacuum on any speed but high. My mom has the V6 and I'm always having to vacuum as fast as I possibly can (when at her house) before it runs out of juice which is really annoying. The V8 seems better for me than the V10 because of this (there's a V10 for sale on Craigslist right now used for $200) - because of how much longer it lasts in high power compared to the V10. I also like that it's quieter in high power and slightly lighter in weight. This all seems fairly logical doesn't it? Thanks!

This is amazing analysis for those kind of vacuum machines. But in Europe is hard to find Dyson. Will you make a review to Philips Aqua pro 3 in 1? Please :) Thank you.

Will the soft roller head ( price $99.97 for head alone ) from the V7 work on the V8 ?

My inner filter is blocked again with some fine dust that I stupidly tried to pick up from some Sheetrock. Big mistake! This is my second motor/inner filter as I bought a new one from Dyson six months ago. So a blower is the best way to clean it out? I don't want to have to buy a third motor. Thank you.

We had an old Dyson Stick loved it. Bought the v10 hate it. The filter is always blocked, it fell over and broke, it throws everything out of the head instead of picking it up and it goes flat quickly. I cut all of the filter out and glued the magnetic ring back on and it’s tolerable now

There is no such thing as 'Inline Airpath' on a Dyson as the air has to spin around the cyclones, also did you not notice that inlet curve for the bin to go into the bin! The cutting out is nothing to do with the bin being full, it's for blockages warning! Both of these machines are not built for longevity.

Do NOT buy it unless ready to subscribe for annual battery replacement at ca. 1/4 of the initial cost! Battery warranty is only 6 months compared to 24 for the machine and dealers refuse free of charge replacement citing the exception, although battery and motor are the 2 main components (remaining is basically plastics). My battery died at month 11 after 50-60 cycles of regular home use, although the dealer said it should last for 500-600. Replacement was still refused.

nice video. The V10 in the medium setting is the way to go for added suction with "reasonable" time. One added item is that the battery life on the V10 is rumored to last about 15 years, so no added cost there. V8 battery is estimated to last 2 years.

Rumors are not enough. Does the v10's battery use a different technology? Because for a lithium pack 15 years means *ages* and it's definitely not going to last that long, and the same applies to Ni-Co batteries which seem to be used by Dyson.

For your own personal pick, would you go for the Dyson V10, or the Shark IonFlex Duo Clean cordless 2X (twin batteries)? In other words, whose machines do you think are the best out of Dyson and Shark's current offerings. There is a considerable market for Shark vacuums now in the UK, and most people seem to sing the praises for the Shark IonFlex, but its heavier, has less power in max mode, and does not have such advanced motor and seperation technology. The Shark IonFlex is also priced very similarly to the Dyson V10, with the top model (IF250UKT) selling for an even higher price than the Dyson V10 Absolute, but I dont think the Shark is worth spending more money on than a Dyson V10 Absolute. I would imagine that in the USA, the Shark IonFlex would retail for less the the average price of a V10 Absolute. I was impressed with your figures, its nice to know, seeing as I have a V8 myself, which I find to be a pretty good cordless machine, but i would not upgrade it to the V10 at this time, as the floorheads and attachments are exactly the same on the UK model V10 as they are on the V8. Also bear in mind that not all US models of V10 come with the Torque Drive carpet powerhead, only the Animal and Absolute do (at this time).

@VacuumWars 6 жыл бұрын
The V10's strength is being much more lightweight. its more of what people are expecting in terms of a light vacuum, the Ionflex is not super heavy or anything but I think is only a slight upgrade from an upright in terms of weight. The Ionflex's strength is that it picks up everything in its path big or small with no changing head or adjusting heads, its really is a beast in that way. The Ionflex doesnt DEEP clean as well as the V10 because of its lower airflow. In the states the Ionflex is about $450 cheaper than the V10 so its a better value, but if it was more expensive than the V10 I would go with the V10 no question if for no other reason than when I want to use a cordless its because I want it to be light and easy, and the V10 is that.

2 things you overlooked that I’d find kind of important: what is the run time on low power with a power attachment? And how does V10s medium settings loudness compare against V8s high setting?
@yellowboy5467
@yellowboy5467 4 жыл бұрын
Around 30mins for the v10 and 25 for the v8. And the V10 in medium is quieter than the v8 on high.
