Talented, charismatic, strange, unique, discovered his talent by chance, outrageous, came out of the people and the ghetto, a star, the best rhythm and blues and soul voice of England, with a unique gift, destroyed by newspapers and his rash behavior and statements. But this is Brian Harvey, he couldn't be any different. Underestimated, due to the mutation of modern music and the end of the boyz bands era and the decline of the golden era of hip hop and soul/rhythm and blues. Brian Harvey and East 17 will always remain in our hearts. But unfortunately, and it's obvious that his voice could not compete at that moment with Boyz2Men, Jodeci, and the American soul/rhythm and blues/gospel market, and even with Backstreet boyz and Nsync, there were more powerful voices and bigger budgets in this market. Not fate. But we still love you Brian Harvey and we'll remember you so amazing, you're a legend. There is no you, there is no East Seventeen. Peace.

I was never an East 17 Fan but I can accept they were a good band, perhaps one of the only authentic 'Boybands' to ever come out, they were not the average pop band, they had a hardcore street look and attitude, they also weren't pretty boys like most R&B bands, Brian's voice was undeniable, he had a great soul voice which leads me to think that Record labels didn't know how to market them and who to market them too. I was into Street music at the time, Hip Hop and I related to their look, I could see they were real but the music wasn't for me and they never tried to make pop Rap, they kept it real and made good pop dance and then tried to go on their own with R&B and maybe if Brian didn't fall off the edge by believing his own hype they may've stayed up there where they deserve to be
