Greenworks must watch your videos, because now they sell Fat tire mountain ebikes using their 80V tool batteries shipped to your door for $2k USD. I bought their Stealth mini bike and love it.

So i think that frame could fit a 72v 20ah battery . Little bit smaller than the 40ah you tried using. You should be able to get a triangle frame pack in there though and then you could really extend the range on that thing

Where did you buy the 80v battery adapter at? Can you use a 60v battery as well?
@overvolted
@overvolted 11 ай бұрын
I bought it off of etsy actually and I think they do have 60 volt adapters as well. It's a 3D printed piece that I'm sure you could redo for cheaper, but I just purchased this one so I can make this video. Yeah you could definitely use a 60 volt battery on an e-bike technically it would be an overvolted system for a 48 or 52 volt controller but that could Make things a lot faster!

What how many amps is that battery ? And how much range do you get ?
@overvolted
@overvolted Жыл бұрын
The one it's being used with now is a 5 amp hour green works battery. So nothing spectacular as far as range goes. If you're being really easy on it and don't drop the throttle then you could probably squeak double digits out of it but just barely.

Out of curiosity, if you add in a derailleur and shifter, could you use the rear cassette instead of the single speed? is there a reason you didn't? does it increase the chance of the chain coming off? fyi im building my first efatbike based of your amazingly fun looking build and would like to retain the gearing on mine.
@overvolted
@overvolted 9 ай бұрын
Yeah you could totally leave the derailleur and shifter. I just did it to simplify the setup and have less cables. Didn't really need all the other gears since it's going to be used like a motorcycle most of the time lol but yeah if you want to use the paddles more than it would be a good idea to leave rear setup

@@overvolted yeah I got this viribus full suspension bike and I've managed to fit a 52v triangle pack in the frame so I'm gonna throw a 1500w kit on it. Original goal was 3000w but oh well I think it should be good enough for now

Good morning!!! I am amazed and excited by your videos, and I wonder if I could talk to you about assisting me with a build. I have a "Surrey Limousine Deluxe" surrey bike that I bought so my wife and I could ride together (she has extreme vertigo and has had to give up 2 wheel cycling and even walking for exercise). The problem is, with just the two of us, it's too heavy to peddle when we come to any hills. I am hoping to build a "pedal assist" based on the greenworks batteries that would a) have the torque to assist the significant weight (surrey + 2 riders = approximately 700 lbs). and b) be able to carry us home at a decent rate of speed if we just got tired and wanted to go full powered. What do you think? Would it be interesting? I would, of course, pay for all parts and accessories. I sincerely hope to hear from you before I try to take on this task on my own... and hell, you could probably sell DIY kits once a working design was gotten. The one offered by the surrey company is almost $3,000 - and that doesn't run off the greenworks 80V batteries I already have!!!! here's what the bike looks like - it's the Surrey Limosine Deluxe - internationalsurreyco.com/product/4-person-cycle/ I hope to hear from you!

A grinder and paint, make you the welder you ain't! Pretty sure you can squeeze the rear arms each about 10 mm each side and get that wheel to fit just fine!

Lol! I like that. I definitely need to practice and figure out how to do things better. Well that motor already started bending the frame so I've got something much more substantial it's mounted to now..... Need to get the video edited tho.

That is a very scary looking weld, it most likely weakened the joint rather than improving it. Before TIG welding was available bikes were built using brazing. Good brazing will beat a bad weld every day of the week. Silver brazing is very strong but only good for a tight fit. Use nickel bronze as gap fill and it will be safe and strong. Often for the home workshop we should be looking to the past for the best results. Today's industrial processes have been optimized to reduce maternal cost but require special equipment and skills. A simple torch with the right rod and flux you can join nearly any metal you will ever come across.

@@overvolted Also if it's an aluminum frame, welding weakens the metal. You have to heat treat the frame to fix it

Just wonderin'... after putting all that money into this incredible build, why would you begin with such a crap-level frame? Seems you could have gotten a quality bike frame off of marketplace for the same price.... I'm really envious of your build - and I greatly admire your ingenuity.

I hate thoes little 110v welders .. Dont feel too bad for me you need 220v flux core or mig . Because you can burn through the spots that give you trouble. Its really hard to grind out once you startvgetting that pitting impurities.. with bigger welder you can turn it up and burn past the trouble spots

My guess is your pedal gear ratio will be mostly useless except for emergency slow pedaling due to a dead battery, or possibly assisting the motor up a very steep incline. I think I counted approximately 32 teeth on the front gear which will have you pedaling air before 15 mph, assuming you are on an 11 tooth gear on the rear. It looks like a nice build with an obvious very fast top speed. Congratulations… 👍🏼

@@brucevous1 with it tuned as it is It hits around 45. Pretty easy. I need to play with the tuning of the controller more and see what else I can get out of it.
