E-bikes becoming more popular around Portland

At least 17% of all bikes in the Rose City are e-bikes, according to the Portland Bureau of Transportation's latest bike count.

It enables my daily commute. I’m taking a car off the road (and I get the parking comp added back into my paycheck). Purists will try to imagine e-bikes are somehow bad for the world.

Lot's of trolls for the oil, gas and auto industry on here. I have been using e-bikes to ride all over my town for three years and have ventured into Portland as well. I have 3. I haven't burned my house down, I haven't been assaulted, haven't had one stolen. I have lost weight and improved fitness. I routinely shop and carry 15 to 20 lbs of groceries up a super steep, long hill. Not bad for a 65 year old. Not one of these posters has ridden an e-bike once. Not sure all of them are real people. And by the way, bicycles have every right to use the road, get used to it.

E-bikes are popular in most Western European countries, and that doesn't happen often there. To be honest, I've never heard of a case like this.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Roads are paid for by the general tax fund, which every tax payer contributes to. Gasoline and auto specific taxes only make up a small percentage of the road budget. Roads belong to everyone, not just M0R0NS like you that think they own the road.
