I'm not a pro or even trained, but your videos have helped me so much. I've had to start doing my own nails because my area is stuffed to the gills with sketchy nail techs. I've had my fingers shredded, infections from tools that weren't sterile, unapproved and unsolicited "upgrades" like 'solar nails' and 'acrylic gel' been slammed with prices that don't match up, and rude and aggressive treatment. So many here just want to rush you through with the most expensive price tag they can slap on you. I've had my natural nail literally ripped off because they slid a tip between the false nail and my real nail so they could start from scratch to make me pay for a FULL nail rather than just a fill. So, out of necessity, I started doing my own. I started with dip powers, then acrylics, then ploy gels, and now I am a builder gel girl. And thanks to all of your tips I'm not terrible.

Can I just say, as someone who draws with charcoal, your e-file will even sharpen your charcoal pencils without snapping the point! Yes, it takes a little time, but you can get an amazing point on your charcoal pencils! Very informative video as always, YN! One of these days, I'll get my YN certificates!

I have been watching all of your videos on how to hand file, e-file, how to pick up the right pearl..... and I must say........... everything you said helped!!!!!!!!! I had such a miserable time the first time doing my own acrylic nails... it took me so long! The shape of my nails came out so horrible 💔 I was miserable... until I stumbled upon your videos! Now that I watched your videos for a couple of days.... it gave me so much knowledge!! I tried doing my nails again last night and I must say... I wasn’t afraid of applying acrylic!!!! I love watching these videos, it helps me understand what theya are doing in a salon. The natural nail curves down as it grows. Why are nail extension filed straight and built up so thick?

Having the sidewall and lower arch come straight out provides a stronger structure to the nail. If allowed to curve down, this can put more pressure at the stress area and can lead to more breakage or racking of nails.

I've been using reverse to file even though I'm right-handed and have successfully done sets without ever hurting myself. I tried using forward now after watching your videos, but it is reallyyy hard and uncomfortable for me even when I'm trying to stabilize. Everyone tends to have different techniques that work for them, but sometimes it is easier and you may feel more in control when filing your non-dominant hand to hold the file steady and move your hand. If you are working with an efile, we recommend using both left and right handed bits and forward/reverse for the appropriate hands.
