Man this was great. Pretty much pointed out that everything I was doing was wrong. Especially on day one. Another important note you may not think to mention (because it seems like common sense but when you’re new you’re just trying not to hurt yourself) is when you are working on yourself and switch to non dominate hand you need to switch it to the opposite direction! My daughter is going to be grateful for this video next time I do her nails. 😄

These videos are so helpful! I've really mastered my e-filing thanks to you guys. There are other pros on KZbin saying that beginners/DIY'ers should never use anything but an arbor band, or anything higher than 5k RPM, and I wasted so much time and energy like that until I found your videos.

This was beyond helpful. So many of these I was doing. Mainly having the speed too low out of fear causing divets. Using the wrong drill bits. Keeping it in one spot for too long causing friction. Moving side to side & slipping going around the nail. I use the cone shaped tool for removing bulk so I never cut myself or clients but I damn sure scare the life out of them.

This is very interesting! I am a beginner, I started doing my own nails around January of this year, and I can really see the progress in my nails, they're looking more and more professional. (Professional as in, they no longer look like giant blobs. Lol.) When it's time for me to do my fill, I've noticed that getting rid of the bulk takes SO LONG. It takes HOURS. I use my e-file around 15 rpms, and I use a ceramic cone bit. It has very chunky teeth on it. I was thinking maybe the bit had gone dull, but I only do my nails once a month. I've switched to using a coarse arbor band, and low and behold, I'm getting through the debulking of my nails in about an hour. Instead of like, 4. Lol. So, maybe I do need to change out my bits.
@NanaNan13 жыл бұрын
Again, Thanks- Most important thing you said was “practice on yourself “ .. it automatic for someone totally unfamiliar with tools and this specifically (as well as anything to do w/body) to think it looks easy so it will be. I learned ALOT about the bits, even though I use the same types in my jewelry making ..it’s a totally different thing with nails. Will be practicing with dip powders and e-file as soon as I get the dye from yesterday’s tie-dye session of my finger nails!😊

Nice, very nice, everything makes sense, everyone should see this tutorial, I will do all of this myself at home this week, because it's been hard to find someone who doesn't cut my skin or make my nail heat, and I end up getting mad at home instead happy for my nails, last woman who did my nails she talked like she knows everything she's doing and most of them DON'T LISTEN to me: Me- I have no cuticles, you will cut my finger, stop doing this too hard in the same spot please- Nail technician- oh this is not dangerous, is just a file, look it's fine" Me- OK but No, I'm telling you because it happened before, other people have done it and they cut me, you're gonna cut me" A minute later I can see the blood coming out Me- look? I told you....- I was soooo mad, I spend the whole week frustrated, that was the last time I let it pass, I'm never letting anyone else do my acrylic nails again.

Also, Why create an e-file with such a high RPM it it’s never used that high? Or is there an ever a point where you would use it that high? Awesome tutorial😀

Ok, so the tips I’ve picked up is, that wasn’t mentioned was - I guess I have to also change my sanding band frequently too as I guess they can also become dull and cause burning. I do my nails at home (only for myself), and I’m experiencing burning lately, this could explain it. Tip 2, that I picked up is that I shouldn’t be using a sanding band to remove bulk or removal of Acrylic/dip nails.

So if I am strictly doing natural nails and acrylic or dip is carbide what I need, bcuz I have carbide and my mandrel and also different emery or grits for the mandrel. I just want to make sure, the bits I have are like a tungsten or oxidized steel look, but they are metal I do believe they are carbide and I have other metals ones that came with my e-file. I'm wondering bcuz I have to order more an I don't want to get ceramic and diamond along with carbide if I don't need too. I was thinking somw diamond for the cuticle area but I'm not 100 on that I'm trying to learn, I want to go to school for nails but most the centers that teach nail art or nail technician and cosmetology aren't open up here due to COVID so I have to do most my learning from KZbin right now

These beginner mistakes are probably the reason they have specific courses to be qualified for an E file when I did my acrylic qualification on top of my normal nail tech qualification the E file was never apart of it as was always taught the E file is never ever for the natural nail plate due to the aggressive of it was taught always hand file for prep and only ever use the E file for when you have the enhancement on the carbide bits when I first got them I used them on myself I over filed to take bulk off and literally sliced through the thumb nail plate so I've never used the Efile on any client as that scares the heck out of me

Okay so I’m learning to do acrylics on myself, I’m right handed. When using my right hand on my own left side, I should be in fwd, but when I’m using my left hand for my right hands’ nails, do I use backwards then? Thanks! Love the tips
@youngnailsinc10 ай бұрын
you are right handed and you are e-filing your right hand using your left, you switch to reverse depending on which way your right hand is facing. If that makes sense. If you have your fingers bent downward into your palm like almost making a fist, you use reverse. If you work on your right hand while it is flat facing away from you keep it in forward.
