haha, i knew someone would notice that. It had no third wire, so fake IC3 connector?
@HorizonHobbyProducts4 жыл бұрын
@@HobbyView It's a real IC3 connector...just without the (optional-use) third wire :) We're already phasing out EC3 (EC5) connectors and will only install IC3 (IC5) connectors, even on products that don't have the third/Smart wire, in the future (because the IC connectors are MUCH easier for factories, and users, to install...plus they're easier to grip to connect/disconnect AND are directly compatible with EC connectors!)
@HobbyView4 жыл бұрын
@@HorizonHobbyProducts , Ah that explains it. My snarky comments aside, I really was unsure what to call it since it was missing the third wire. So the IC3 is not just the 3rd wire feature but ergonomic design update as well. Thanks for the clarification!

Fitz, I recently started flying again and I found your videos to be among the best there is. I haven't seen you in a few years but enjoyed your Habu STS video and since I used to have the original Habu I bought one. Your flying still seems to be spot on and your on screen delivery is tops. Keep up the the good work!

I taught myself to fly on the origional habu years ago when it was first released. The platform makes a great trainer and survived to this day. Some dremel work, an 80mm habu 32 fan, and a 6s pack have kept it enjoyable to date. Nice video!

Note: The flight controller has a barometer that works in conjunction with the Safe and Intermediate modes that also pitches the nose up if we are flying too low and a bit too fast for a landing. It is off when in Expert mode as expected. If you aren't aware of it, it is a bit disconcerting! Great flying plane, I'm loving mine especially on 4S (w/4000mAh G1 Smart battery).

I bought the Habu starter set for the kids Christmas. Also bought a 4S smart battery and a better charger. We are looking forward to practicing on the simulator and then going out to the flying park. Seeing you messing around with a huge smile on your face gives us confidence! Keep those You Tubes coming.

tank you sir for your helpful review of this plane.....as a beginner , I never thought of trying to fly a jet, but now I might think about picking this model up on a 3S...........

Additional Thoughts: I also don't taxi much in grass (my flying field is all grass) as it tends to suck up debris into the engine (especially freshly cut grass) and will need to be cleaned out which is a pain and may require disassembly. So, it's not a "walk of shame" but a "walk of victory!", LOL.

Hello and thank you for this habu test, especially for takeoffs in the grass! Many present the aircraft only in the ideal conditions of a hard runway take-off, which we do not all have at our disposal. If you had to choose between a habu and a Viper as your first jet, what would be your choice and why. Thank you again for your videos that I watch with pleasure! Friendly from Belgium
@HobbyView4 жыл бұрын
Interesting question. Both jets are good as a first jet in different ways. I think it depends on your skill level and personal preference. The Viper jet is faster (6s) and more complex (retracts & flaps), also slightly smaller wing area if i recall. If you have good experience in moderate/high speed, low wing sport planes then i would likely recommend the Viper. But it you are still relatively new to hobby then go with the Habu STS. Though the caveat is as you mentioned for tall grassy fields you would be better with the Habu.

I am an experienced flyer, but have not flown in about 10 years. I will be flying on grass fields only. Would this be a good choice for me? I know I will catch on with flying again quite quick and want something more than just a trainer. The 4S option and the larger wheels seems to make this a more doable option. Would you agree or any other suggestions? Thanks!
@HobbyView3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think so. The large wheels help a lot with grass. 4S gives you some reserve power. I would suggest making the first few flights with an instructor if you can.

I don’t have one of these, but I would bet the Freewing Rebel would fly as good if not better. Has Landing gear which the Habu doesn’t have, and is grass capable. I have had mine for several years now with 280 flights on it, and still going strong. It’s fast for a 4 cell bird. Rebel is less money also. Just tying to help those who might be looking.

Why do all these jets have such small capacity batteries? It seems like it would be easy to hold batteries with 2 or 3 times as much capacity. Or couldn't they make a connector so you could put 2 or 3 batteries in the jet? Such a shame all these jets have such short flying times.
