E-flite UMX Radian BNF Basic - Slope Soaring and Aerobatics

I took advantage of a beautiful day in Frankfort Michigan to do a little slope soaring and flying with the new E-flite UMX Radian BNF Basic with AS3X and SAFE select. This was my first opportunity to do slope soaring and it was quite enjoyable… of course the scenery there never disappoints. The UMX Radian is a lot of fun for such an inexpensive and simple plane. I am flying it with my Spektrum NX10 transmitter and a E-flite 150MaH 1s 45c lipo. Such a fun little flyer!

Hello, thinking buying this for my first rc glider, how good of a glider is it on a open field? And can it catch thermals, and 1 last question, how strong was the wind

I never really did any thermal soaring with it but I don't know why it wouldn't do just fine. The breeze off the lake in the video was probably 5 to 10 mph.

The Frankfort/Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore area is one of my favorite places on earth. So peaceful and beautiful and a great place to fly a little glider.

This looks like a great park flyer as well. I see you had a lite onshore breeze, but with the AS3X, it must have made the flight like a walk in the park, so to speak.

how do you do the aerobatics? I own a radian too and I can't seem to figure out how to do aerobatics....

I had to max out the mechanical control throw on both the rudder and elevator i.e. move the control rod to the inner most hole on the control surface horn. It takes a lot of throw to get it to roll.

What a beautiful and impressive video of the new Radian. Lovely piloting work on the sticks. The Radian really looks in its element along the shore line as it has similar qualities and characteristics to a bird gliding and having fun in a light breeze. I just ordered the new Radian. Really looking forward to getting it in the air. It will be my first ever rc aircraft.

The only change I made was to increase the mechanical control throw on the rudder. Otherwise box stock.

I tried 150mah battery but I always get the low battery warning even after a fresh charge.

How old is the battery? Sometimes these little single cell packs can have short lifespans.

Beautiful weather and sky. I should try something along here on the sunny side of the state. Love my little Radian. I put fishing bobber lights on it to fly at dusk. Red, green, and yellow under the tail.
