E-Flite UMX Timber X Maiden Flight on 2S and 3S

On today's show we're doing the maiden flight of the brand new release from E-flite of the UMX Timber X Micro RC airplane .
This scaled down version of the very popular 1.2M plane is a blast . It has some cool features like ball link connectors and can take a 3 Cell battery .

I honestly like these better then drones, man they really don't need much room to take off, that's pretty cool. Landings are nice to though.

Thanks Dennis , Yes 2-3 feet is all you need for this lil guy , a bit more to land . The small ones have some of the same performance as larger ones and are great for learning on and flying in backyards and smaller locations .

Just got my timber X! What size 2s did you use? Thinking of starting off on 2s to get familiar with this model before I throw 3s on.

Thanks for watching . I used a 2S 7.4v 300Mah battery . Same size as the 3S . Its fairly docile in SAFE mode like most . Best of luck . Its a great plane .

Nice maiden. The 3S does seem to make a big difference in performance. I like what I've been seeing and hearing about the UMX X but I'm pretty certain I'll be getting another TT, which will be my third, before getting the X. I fly UMX (which so far has only been the TT) more for relaxation than sport or pushing to improve my flying skills.

Thanks Bill . Yes , just like everything , that extra voltage gives it a real kick . I love the UMX planes and have two TTs myself , ones getting pretty worn out with all the flying its done .LOL . Such a fantastic lil plane . You can get some relaxed flying out of the X as well , It looks great and the lights are super bright , but I do think it's geared towards the performance oriented . If your happy with the TT I'd stick with it , It would great if they put this new power system in it . The UMX PITTS is very close to perfection as well . It's a beautiful plane to just watch as you fly , but also has some amazing abilities and speed with a 3S battery . Highly recommend if you're interest in more UMX planes . Take care ✈

@@PhilipCockram I did wind up getting the UMX T X... about two weeks before the EVO was announced. I like the X but I'm sure I'd like the EVO even better.

@@BillKisel Thats great . I hope you are enjoying it . I was hoping to get a little more time in with the X this week but its been raining like crazy here. If I didn't already have another TT new in Box , Id like to have the new one . The blue livery is nice and kinda changes it up too . I wish it wasn't so expensive to upgrade them to 3S , but I figure , eventually , I'll have a power system from a plane thats crashed or something . Glue and toothpicks only go so far . LOL

When we have had good and clam days I've gotten as many flights in as I could with the UMXs to get my skills back in shape from the winter . I'm looking for a new flying spot to film the bigger planes ATM too . Cheers

Nice flight Philip I like the area you have to fly in, I'm still not sure if I want to get 1 of these timber x's maybe if I totally wrecked my umx tt I would give this bird a shot we'll see what the future brings 😀 lol. Right now I'm just waiting for a day to go out flying it's been over a week since I last flew and that was a maiden flight of my e flight Pitts S-1S 850mm, it's been rain or too windy since! Thanks Marty . yes it's a nice spot and only a few mins drive away . Oh Brother , I've been waiting on some nicer weather as well . It's been so windy the last few weeks . I hope your Pitts maiden went well ? I had a few problems with mine that I will discuss in the flight video for it . A bad brand new BAD servo was one problem . I got your pic of the adjustable clevis . Thanks again . I had a few more flights late last night on the new Timber X . It's a good flyer and goes fast on the 3S . The lights are awesome at dusk . But , it has a few characteristics to get used too . It can tip stall rather easily and it surprises you how fast it does . The AS3X and SAFE modes don't seem to be tuned as well as some other planes . I think it has some 3D potential , but it;s a handful . Maybe some more time is needed IDK . I , and many others as you know , love the TT . It's an awesome plane . I just wish it could take 3S . And if upgrading the power system wasn't so expensive , that's what I would have done instead of getting this . The TT goes fast , but could use a touch more juice or punch for tricks and stuff IMO . I agree with your opinion or assesment , and maybe wait until you do wear out or total your TT before getting this . If you don't already have one , I would highly recommend the new UMX Pitts . That plane is on par with the TT for excellence . It's really amazing and prefromes even better if you take the landing gear off , and it gives you another full minute of flight time . The Pitts is tuned so well and flys so great , You can really throw it around and it just loves it . It's amazing what you can do even with SAFE on . I hope I can get the same confidence flying the 850mm . I also have the FMS 1400mm Pitts , But it's still in the box . And i might not get to it this season with all the other planes I have . Does the umx turbo timber have the exact same size, shape motor mount as the umx timber x? Just wondered? Thanks

Thanks for watching Katrina . Yes , both planes use the same motor MOUNT and prop adaptor . Part # E-flite - EFLU15030 . for the mount The motor itself is different though .

So stock plane cat take 3 cell. I didnt see 3 cell as a batt option.

Thanks for watching . yes it can take 2 and 3 cell batteries . it's almost double speed on the 3 S . This plane , The UMX Pitts and the newly announced UMX Voodoo Mustang are the only models that can take both 2 and 3 cell batteries , from the factory . Hope that helps .
