This is exactly similar to our family where we two daughters were given all the freedom but knew our limits. We excelled in academics and got well paid jobs before marriage.That way I bought most of my jewelry for my marriage and could help my parents. Even after my marriage I still send some money to them though they never use it. But it gives me immense satisfaction and pride as a DAUGHTER. I also do the same towards my in laws too as they gave me their good son. I owe all these things to my brought up and the almighty.

Lakshmi mam ( we are probably around the same age but i am calling you mam out of respect). Word by word i can relate to everything you are saying. Our life and experiences have taken almost similar paths. I have come very close to contacting you during your solvathelam unmai days. But i thought, like most people you wouldn’t understand my side because i am from America and all senior citizens ( dad ) are innocent. Like your kids mine have also shunned indian relatives due to similar experiences and told us the exact same thing “ we want you and daddy to enjoy life and spend money on yourself “. God has blessed me with smart and beautiful kids and grandkids. I am hoping to talk to you in person soon or at least face time 😃. I know we will talk for hours and enjoy each others company. Your husband is so similar to mine from education to love, caring, honesty and humility. He came from a humble family, a selfmade man who has been my guide, my pillar of strength and great support. I am very lucky to have him as my soulmate.
