Thanks for the video. I watched it before opening my Morpheus. Two things I found out by trial and error, which may help others, too. So, I also had the weird LED symptoms and feared the worst. Diagnostics were okay. The MIDI test actually works when connecting the MIDI Out and In with a single cable; the Morpheus then can check data going out and coming in. I put in a new battery. (The original worked for ... 28 years! Talk about made in the USA in the early 90s :) At first the LEDs were still acting weird and it did not boot properly. The trick was to retest the RAM which overwrites it. (In the Diagnostics Menu there is also a reset option, I think.) After turning the unit off and on, it booted properly. I guess there was still random data or no data in the RAM due to the low /no battery voltage. That needed to be written before booting the unit. Happy synthesizing.

Keygroups. We don't have enough good keygroups out there. Usually if it sounds really good it's only an octave. Alot of the stock Akai keygroups are kicks snares and riffs or few musical notes scattered across the pads rather than playable instruments.

Hi, I have a Morpheus, a few years ago it developed a fault where by it the LCD screen is blank , but it and all the leds continuously flash rapidly when you power on. I tried the master reset (master button and right cursor), it made no difference. I have replaced the power supply, still the same symptoms, not sure if the flashing is slight slower or the same speed. Any ideas what it might be?

Oh man, I feel the pain! Mine stopped working too, the first thing you should do is check the battery, although I suspect you might have already done so.

50 € - I took my chance on it, as screen was lit I guessed it was a very common battery problem. Hopefully I'll have a lot of fun with the Morpheus. Thanks for watching!

The issue with my Morpheus is that it blew up a pair of earphones. It was sold as working, except the right headphones channel, which was fine by me. But then, when I listened to the demo song(s) through the earphones, the right channel got incredibly hot, to the point that I had to yank it out of my ear. So obviously, there's some offset voltage or something of the sort. I'm afraid to connect it to my audio interface, even though the seller said it always worked well for him. (And he gave me a partial refund that I hadn't even asked for.)

You are lucky to get a partial refund, and, also you are quite lucky to get a E-MU Morpheus, which is a rare find! I think you can safely connect the rear outputs to your sound card (just in case, lower the input gain) but you have to avoid using the headphone output. I highly recommend downloading the free software editor, Edisyn. You will have a lot of fun exploring the capabilities of the Morpheus with this tool.

@@MusicianParadise The "sound card" is a MOTU 24Ai, so I'm not going to connect it until I've measured the output. Apart from that these things aren't cheap (not very expensive either in the grand scheme of things, but still north of €/$ 1000 if I had to buy it again), and where I live it'd be gone for months for repair. I'll go and measure the thing, see if there are any stray voltages.
