How do you know how to play and find these chords

I like Jamiroquai. He's just using Black American chords.

Beggars can't be choosers, i know😅 But it would be fantastic if you could cover a Todd Rundgren song. You can choose either *Compassion* or *The Verb To Love* He's a fantastic composer who needs more recognition
@MusicianParadise7 сағат бұрын
I've received several requests for Todd Rundgren songs. I've attempted to create videos for these songs but haven't been able to complete them for several reasons: 1. The chord progressions are hard to fit into short form videos without compromising their integrity. 2. Without the melody and lyrics, Todd Rundgren's chord progressions alone don't do justice to his tunes-there's a lot of musical meaning carried in the melody itself, or in the interplay between the chords and the melody. 3. The rhythm section (which I often use to support the chords) feels quite stale and static without the top melody (this may be just my personal opinion, but it's what I experienced while attempting to work on his tunes) 4. The ROI on his music is quite low, so the videos won't get many views-I need to find a way to fit these videos into my content strategy. I still have Todd Rundgren songs on my to-do list, but I'm struggling to find a way to present them that truly honors this amazing artist's work.

Pretty generic chord progression, I wouldn't say it came from Sweet Freedom. That song resolves differently anyway
@MusicianParadise15 сағат бұрын
At 0:26 kzbin.infoivfgN27qENc, there are three identical chords in a row, with the fourth chord being the same but voiced differently. I wouldn't call it generic-to my ears, the chord progression is pretty unique. I only know one other song that uses such a progression: kzbin.infoy-3i72lLuT8. "Sweet Freedom" has much more to offer-it has more chords than all the pop songs combined from 2000-2024, thanks to Rod Temperton. I love how "These Walls" builds upon this classic, especially how the arrival of Db/F feels so powerful at the ending. I heard Terrace Martin played on the Kendrick Lamar record, though I might be mistaken.

Nice! But why not just call the first two chords Bbmin11 and Ebmin11? More true to the Dorian sound I feel, whereas sus tends to imply more of a suspended dominant or subdominant vibe. Unless you’re convinced there’s no 3rd in the voicing.
@MusicianParadise15 сағат бұрын
Well spotted! Those are auto-captions from the ChordieApp. Since the app doesn't the app does not know there's the minor thirds will appear briefly later, it labels the chords as sus4. I agree that Bbmin11 and Ebmin11 are more accurate in this case, but I'm too lazy to write the captions manually!

Por que essa música está em evidência de novo tanto tempo depois? Ela é trilha de algum filme que saiu agora?
@MusicianParadise3 күн бұрын
I believe it's due to the timeless message in the title and the incredibly creative video with its high meme potential that captured people's imagination. Also, as a musician, I must say the music itself is excellent.
