Thanks for this Glyn. My 40kwh upgrade is imminent in the next fortnight.

did you get it done, how did it go ?
@Whereswally606 Жыл бұрын
@@AdrianMcDaid yep the battery was swapped with help of Laimonas who sold me the battery and used the lift and pro help with the aircon at mitsiland in Denton. Had it a while now. On renewed firmware for the 2 port canbridge which has really decent low power consumption on the 12v now. Very easy to reflash. Overall a success. But my hx on the 40kwh pack is not brilliant and as a consequence rapid charging is relatively slow especially when we took the van to france. Had to turn around at paris versaille since the battery was making travel very slow with rapidgating. Didnt get to toulouse to see my friend but did manage to get home to manchester. Next mods are ccs and maybe and extender pack

Useful to know if I ever pluck up courage to swap my 30kWh! When the time comes I'll probably pay the experts to do it, but nice to believe I could do it myself 🤔 Maybe the first step would be replacing the soldering iron and solder I've had since 1996 😂 (bought to install remote central locking on my Mk2 Ford Fiesta 😁)

Just run my cam bridge wire through the firewall. Gonna save soldering till tomorrow running too close to picking the kids up. Want a full day aside in case i screw something up. Tip about the black trunking is a good one. Managed to have some off an old honda insight to protect my wires from those cheeky mice. Rained all day today so ive postponed the job. Did manage to wire up and test my diy v4 bms though for a potential leisure battery.

Finished my 2 port install. This video helped massively. Just charging at the osprey rapid in Stockport. Local cheadle rapid was broken and made me panic a little. Anyway just waiting to see how long this is going to take.

I wonder whether muxsan and cleevely knew this already about the env200. They both convert these vans with emile's canbridge. This is all good stuff glynn. My muxsan leaf is still going well but would love to swap the 24kwh gen1 canary pack with a 40kwh. Fortunately we just bought a 2014 gx4hs outlander as a second car. With a phev box and a canbridge i am hoping to convert it to a mostly ev suv that can tow upto 1500kg legally. Great work as alway Glynn and Dala.

Glyn - from your experience (thanks for all of your time invested in these vids btw), is there any reason why we can't just swap the VCM from a 40kWh van into a 24 van? Will that do away with the need for a canbridge?
@GlynHudson Жыл бұрын
The unique battey ID would still need to be paid with the vcm, unless you found a vcm and 40kWh batrey from the same vehicle. You would also need to pair vehicle keys with the new vcm. This can only be done with Nissan tools. Swapping the vcm is a lot more work and cost than using a can bridge.
@B2C2007 Жыл бұрын
@@GlynHudson In fact, I have a complete written-off 40kWh van with VCM/ keys and leafspy for pairing. There is currently a delay for Dala's can bridges of a few weeks so I might just wait and see.
@GlynHudson Жыл бұрын
@@B2C2007 if you have a battery and vcm combo it may be worth a try, I think pairing the keys is quite straightforward with the right tool. Possibly pairing keys could be possible with the 'LeafHacker' android app. Let us know how you get on

I think doing a belt and braces approach is sensible here, do a leaf spy flash, then add a CAN bridge, reason being if the bridge fails or is damaged you can fall back to flashed operation untill the bridge is repaired, otherwise your stuck on reduced power etc with a P3102 code.
@GlynHudson3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, this is what I've done. Although if the bridge is removed I need to add a connector to re-connect the EV CAN lines

Hi Glyn, Are you still reading this? Have a eNV200 battery upgrade question. Is skipping the can bridge and only using leaf spy battery error code remover leaves me with alternating range display with max range and some chargers not charging to full? Is the AC cooling working? Anything else ? I am trying to avoid splicing into the harness underneath. Thaaaanks. Peter
@GlynHudson Жыл бұрын
That is correct. However, compared with the effort of doing the battery swap fitting the CAN bridge is quite straightforward. It's just like fitting a car stereo. I would recommend fitting a CAN bridge to have a seamless upgrade. Especially the rapid charger compatibility, that's the mains issue. Also, the ability to sell the van with a professional polished upgrade in the future.
@101belcore Жыл бұрын
@@GlynHudson thx Glyn. But the AC battery cooling did work, didn't it? There was only a glitch in the early coding of the can bridge right? thanks for your answer, big fan of yours from Hungary peter

@@101belcore the battery cooling worked fine without the CAN bridge, but it didn't work with an early version of the CAN bridge firmware. This has now been fixed

Does the 69% roughly compare to a 24kwh pack @100% ? I think it does roughly work out 67ish % is 24ish kWh's ie a full 🔋
@GlynHudson3 жыл бұрын
The 40kWh pack has 36kWh usable, my 24kWh pack at 80% Soh had 17kWh usable, therefore the new pack is just over 2x lager. So 50% of the new 40kWh pack equal to 100% of my old pack
