Exactly man, and I think TED is what's keeping this world together, think about it. You have so many bright ppl from different parts of the world who talk about a wide range of topics.. its almost like TED meetings are family conversations in the family room..

A lot have it, but it takes a certain clout to pull off depending on the audience. Wilson taught so many leading ecologists and everyone in the field has probably studied his work, so he's in a good place to use it.

That was great. Your are a true scientist and a deep thinker. The world needs more people who dare to dig beneath the surface of things. Thank you for opening my eyes to what is all around me.

I was gonna mention the slightly misleading climate predictions, but my critical side is on pause. Humble, concise, goal oriented, realistic and sincere. Parrhesia, Mr. Wilson. From truth, happiness Parrhesia.

This is something which is very important, the destruction of the biosphere thru ruthless human exploitation will in the end lead to our own destruction bcos we depend on nature and all those little ecosystems for our own survival. Kudos to E.O. Wilson great man!

Cavemen lived through the ice age without electricity. Though I would be distraught to find an Earth without the majesty of forests and seas, I find it hard to fathom a cataclysm which humanity would not live through.

Yes, repair. So, far the best theory of "damage" are asteroid collisions with the earth causing mass extinctions (low biodiversity). For a "healthy" earth we need biodiversity (many different species). "Repair" means how long it took to regain a level of biodiversity, which was 10 million years.
