@@jeffkrupke3810 I know about Domegaia, that's how I've learned about AirCrete in the first place. They add 2 layer of fabric (one inside and one outside) for increase in tensile strenght, where the concrete lack. I would be curious how the EPIC mix is earthquake, hurricane proof. At the same time, a comparaison of geodesic dome structure in wood compare to aircrete/EPIC mix would be interesting.

@Aircrete Harry EPS foam is highly flammable. However, EPS foam used in construction is "California Fire Rated" CFR and is self-extinguishing. If you're just using scrap EPS vs. EPS that's CFR.... your results could be very different.

Awesome stuff. Have you ever heard of "fire stopping paint"? When hit with a torch it expands and forms a thermal barrier to the wood. Also, how water proof is aircrete; can it be used as a roof without any furthrt water proof coatings? Great series! And i thank you for all the great research. I can tell that those are large projects.
@AircreteHarry
@AircreteHarry 5 жыл бұрын
I sell a paint The contains surrounding beads and its is fire proof I'm not sure where talking about the same paint though. Aircrete is not waterproof you would need a waterproof stucco coating on top of it.

Couple of tests for you: 1) take a 5 gal pail and use it as a form making a 6 inch and 8 inch "barrel" around the outside of the pail. Once they dry use them a burn barrels. A normal house usually has 6 or 8 inch walls, so the 6 and 8 inch thick barrel would be similar. 2) Make this Foundry ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKLKnomsqbVsapY) with epic as a ultimate heat test, see how hot it will withstand.
@watchthe1369
@watchthe1369 5 жыл бұрын
451 degrees is the temperature to ignite paper or wood. It stood up for 5 minutes, pretty good. I would say to simulate a bit of preheating from a tree or house burning nearby, then give it some torch action. Using your papercrete block as a back stop for the other tests satisfied that. It does not support combustion awesome!

Have you looked into those nano-bubblers the Japanese invented ? combined with an Air-lift pump + interior graphene coated hoses and/or graphene admixture in cement for two story pumping...I have tried the graphene in my aircrete w/H2O repellent ....so it floats and does not get waterlogged / could be used as an insulated watering trough?..the downside was it took too long for me to cure.

I'm wondering if the paper-create would work as a home insulation? How does it hold up against long term moisture and possible rot/mold.
@StoicObserverS
@StoicObserverS 5 жыл бұрын
Nothing organic to rot or mold. Does not wick water the way standard concrete does. And it flows into all the voids really well.eith papercrete you could fill the entire void at once. With aircrete you can only fill approximately 1 foot to 18 inches in depth at once as too deep will force the bubbles pt and lose ypu r value
@AircreteHarry

maybe test it for moisture penetration or rotting? see if termites like it or something. seems that adding paper or anything organic to it is not a strong point. usually, organic things mixed with none organic things make it mold mildew and rot resistant but not proof.

I think requirement 4 code require at least 20 mins constant heat n some 30 mins most need an hour a wall is constructed in front of an oven and consultant heat is applied temperatures are checked a competition would be 2 use 1/2" 5\8" n 3\4" sheet rock andc1\4" n 1\2" hardie backer and wonder board as u are out side u loose a lot of heat

While I find the many questions interesting about if you have done this or that extreme test or tried an exotic mix I think they miss the real salient point. The epic and paper air crete have proven a very, even extremely safe material to live in. I live in a log cabin in the pine covered mountains and can guarantee it would be the LAST place I'd stay in during a forest fire.
