For that ghostbusters scene I never got those kids. He-Man is a half naked muscle man, not really super appropriate for a kid's birthday party...

Yes. One of the Big Probs with Modern Fandom. It's how we've all been "Trained" to run things through the for lack of a better description "Current Year Filter" Its like We just can't Sit back and just ENJOY Things anymore.

I mean, considering how a lot of aspects of social norms even just over 20 years, can end up being like the stuff that we really, REALLY wish we didn't do in our teens or whatever, I'm not really surprised why it may or may not lead to some sort of neurosis or something, as a result.

I honestly thought that Revolution was better than revelations and fixed some of the problems from revelations. I honestly hope that Adam and Adora are reunited as a family on screen, even in Kevin's series.

I want to say that the major problems with the first series was the feelings of 'bait and switch', made worse by the script leak that Smith handled poorly and the trailer for the first season that heavily featured He-Man only for that to encompass the entirety of his screen time. Also, there was a CGI series that came out at around the same time which tanked, partially, because of the first season's poor reception and the show constantly contradicted its own lore, both in ancillary content and in overarching mythology.

I think Mattel can use She-Ra without DreamWorks permission, but the cast that originated in the original 80s cartoon, and the new show are owned by DreamWorks as far as I can tell other than Hordak obviously.

Never understood the recentment against Revelations....it was a lot of fun! Was every change necessary? no, but it was good, not an instant classic, but a good watch. Revolution is better in many ways, but a bit too short for my taste to fully fledge out the story

You should do an Honest Review on the CGI He-Man Netflix series, as you never mentioned it. Also, Extreme Ghostbusters in time for the new movie.

I agree 👍, the Netflix CGI He-Man series was good for what it was. I also enjoyed the Extreme Ghostbusters when it came out in the late 90s.

As a more recent He-Man fan (I started with the 2003 series) I enjoyed what I saw of Revelation. The problem is... I had been so harassed and dumped on by Kevin Smith's cultish fans that it more or less ruined the brand for me and I never watched the second half. It's really hard to want to watch something made by someone you know is a liar and an asshole, especially when they indirectly caused you real emotional harm.

I am not certain Smith will be able to wait out the She-Ra rights. I have heard that Dreamworks is developing a live action She-Ra series for Amazon. No idea where they are with that, been awhile since it was announced so it may have fallen through, but it seems like Dreamworks still has plans for the character. Personally, I hope they just work out a rights deal to use her ala Sony/Marvel with Spider-Man. I also REALLY hope Adora is not the villain of the next chapter, I just don't like seeing heroes turn into villains. Would much rather a new story of the twins teaming up again to fight the baddie.

The first season committed the "cardinal sin" of having a woman as one of the main characters, this caused many heads to explode. Season 2 put her back in a supporting role backing up the "real hero" so all is apparently right with the world.

I actually liked Revelations - I loved the deconstruction of the 80s tropes as being because Prince Adam is an out of touch sheltered naïve aristocrat- who is an utter cornball just because he thought that was what heroes were expected to do. Though that said I get wanting to keep away from the toxic a holes.

I've really enjoyed both chapters; the characters have been great and the action glorious. And I hope chapter 3 really is able to bring is Adora/She-Ra and show us what will happen there.

people don't like being lied to. Revelations was consistently advertised as He Man, and turned out they only showed footage from the first episode Kevin Smith even lied and called people who reported on leaks about the truth, liars and trolls. i gave the show a shot for Sarah Michelle Gellar and the impressive cast, wasn't impressed. after a few episode i just ignored it.

@@DigiRangerScott he literally called the youtube channel Clownfishtv liars when they reported leaks about Teela being the main character. Kevin smith is phoney, and thats not even about the lies or Teela being the lead (actually be honest about it and it probably would have gotten less hate) its about the fact that he has spoken about not liking he man in the past. Didn't start praising it until he started working on it

@@BlackMethos Don't pay much attention to social media, hell i was willing to give it a shot all the way up until the premier based on cast alone. but seriously false advertising teela was unlikable Mark Hamil was phoning it in as Skeletor (he just did his joker voice) Didn't finish the first season, so who knows maybe it got better but the cast was not enough to keep me interested.

@@MarkGuerrero-cz9bh BECAUSE CLOWNFISH HAS THE SAME MEDIA LITERACY YOU DO. Kevin Smith said 2 things about Revelation: 1) It’s all about He-Man and 2) Teela is a major character. Which one’s the lie

I disliked the "first chapter", but I had valid and civilized criticisms against it. I only took issue with the death threats and unwanted sex jokes I received from its rabid defenders within Kevin Smith's Twitter threads and Kevin never bothered to tell his defenders to stop attacking people.

I feel sorry for you falling in love with movies after seeing one of the most disappointing adaptations ever. My 1st Franchise was Star Wars, mainly because of a Wampa toy Commercial. He-Man was some thing I got in to a lot but Real Ghostbusters was better and I got in to it as He-Man was in the way out. Heck even Thundercats was more fun. But He-Man was already some thing I enjoyed enough to hold on to and come back to any time they brought it back. He-man 1990 was bad he-man 2002 was the best of the reboots She-Ra Netflix was very well done Kevin Smith's He-Man was a spilled out toy box but Kevin smith was 100% right what he said about it , from a certain point of view the CGI He-Man wasn't really He-Man . It was more like Shazam. You should also know that so called "Racist people" don't see them selves as racist they'll consider there view points valid and justified and maybe even obvious. People didn't like Kevin Smith because he said "The show is totally all about He-Man" and they felt lied to when he died in the 1st episode. If you actually watched his interviews he said Strait up front "We kill him off twice" not only did he never lie but as shore as Darth Vader killed Anakin isn't a lie, the series really was "All about He-Man" This was Adult animation done right better then Family Guy and any thing on Adult Swim or Spike TV. I would praise it along side Harley Quin or Samuri Jack. Over All Cartoon Network is worse then Disney with how it treats cartoons He-Man 2002 should have never been cancelled a that final chapter we should have gotten to see that final chapter of the story where they would have brought in She-Ra

I will say, for me, I did kinda appreciate the fact that Revolution did partially canonize the events of the live action Masters film. They could have just ignored the events of that movie and moved on but no. I thought tbat was pretty cool.

I think many people felt like the first chapter was a bait & switch from what Kevin initially said. I understand how they felt as I did a bit too, BUT I did like where they went with the story and enjoyed it. The second chapter however, I enjoy so much more. Kinda sad SMG didn't return as Teela though

I liked Revelation for the most part and Revolution was a good payoff to the setup from Revelation. Fans just needed to stay seated for the entire ride. My only complaint was Teela quitting at the end of episode 1. Teela has always had a great sense of duty to the kingdom and in the moment where her king needed her most she abandons him. Her beef was with Duncan, Cringer, Orko, the Sorceress, and maybe the Queen. Randor and Teela could have leaned on each other and worked through their grief together instead of using distaste for Magic as a clumsy metaphor for Teela's trust issues. We could have been introduced to Andra while Teela was trying to get the glove back from Stinkor or even while she was on her way to snake mountain to retrieve the goblet. Everything else was fine except for the loose ends Revolution left without any real expectations for a 3rd part. It was nice to have the blink and you'll miss it easter eggs for the existence of Adora promising that she could one day come into the picture, but with Randor dead I'm not sure if thats something to hope for. If she ever learned the truth wouldn't she feel robbed that she never gets to meet her father? The two parts brought together a majority of the best parts of all the iterations of the franchise. For example, Skeletor being Keldor was hinted at in the mini comics in the 80s. In 200X its hinted that Keldor and Randor were brothers. In the CGI show they introduced the idea that the power of Havoc transformed Keldor into Skeletor. Revelation/Revolution brought all this together in a very enjoyable way.

Nostalgia is a terible drug and can lead to irrational thinking. I had to come to the realization that Michal Bay did not kill Transformers and the new FF7 remake dose not erase the original. The fact that we have a Star Wars actor and a Star Trek actor on the same show is neat to me. I know it has probably happened before but still. i never understand why the two fandomes decided to beef with each other. When I was a Kid I watched both. I had Marvel and DC comics. I never understand the whole competitive nature of fans.
