I always drill (4j holes in my tires about 1/8” bit, it allows the water to leave using centrifugal force, the reason you blow out tires is the water inside will use that same centrifugal force with that mass of water inside the tire and tear it apart. Then you can run in the water all you want, just take it for a quick couple spins down the road or driveway before bringing it inside to dissipate the water from inside the wheels. Great videos!

Nice video! I did the same, except with the waterproof savox servos. I don't typically run in water either, but just wanted to stick on the safe side. Heres a tip: put some small squares of electrical tape over the holes on the inside of each wheel, then water won't be able to get in and ruin the foam or fill the tire up with water. It really works well! Thanks :P

Outsourced RC Your commentary on running RC's through mud and water was spot on. I think it's up to the individual end user to decide, but I can't see the value of running these models through mud and water for a few minutes, and then having to do an eternity of maintenance. It was never worth it for me. I use one savox 1230 servo in both my Erevo 1.0 and my Summit, and it turns the tires effortlessly. The only limitations coming from the servo saver. I would bet that the BEC in your stock ESC is getting strained by those two servos.
@outsourcedrc6 жыл бұрын
I just put up a video of me testing one 1256 vs two. I've talked to people that have tested one 1230 vs two and we all agreed that two servos are better than one even if that one is a 500 oz servo.

I think my servo's just went to my E-Revo 2.0. I was waiting on a replacement tire so it's been sitting on the bench for the last week. I installed the new tires and was going to run in the yard but it seems I have very little steering. I did align them out of the box. If I turn full left or right and front tires move very little. How are those servo's holding up? I don't want to drop a set of stock ones in only to fail again. All always seems you always have a video for my needs. Thanks

@outsourcedrc6 жыл бұрын
I have both and I love them both, but the 2.0 is way better once you do a few upgrades. Once you put the limiting straps on, swap out the servos, and learn how to not blow tires, it's pretty damn tough. The V1 can't take the punishment the 2.0 can. I have a pile of V1 parts in my shop. I do need that find a solution to ripping rod ends off the Pushrods, but I have only done it twice so it's a minor issue.

Thanks. What do you recommend? More power e.g. 2x 20kg (my choice) or a faster one (so 0,10s to 60° at 6V - rather than orig. 0,17s for 60° )? What is more important, power (kg) or speed (or both ;-) ? I also drive the Revo 2.0 Would you today - 3 years later - still recon 2 Servos and not 1? I am also a fan of symmetric things. However, Kevin Talbog for example swapped it for one 25kg servo (Power HD LW-25MG) - you might have heard of him. Thanks !
@outsourcedrc3 жыл бұрын
Power is more important than speed for me. It allows for more control. Fast but weak servos on a heavier RC makes it handle poorly. You won’t have the power to turn the wheels when you need it, and at higher speeds a fast Servo makes it harder to make small changes in your steering.
@buslebeni3 жыл бұрын

I bought a used 2.0 yesterday. Kevin Talbot says its a nightmare to keep that thing running....is that true? I could change it against an Arrma but I think the Revo is superior and not as primitive. Also the Arrma needs a lot of hop ups too to be durable. The guy who sold it to me said the most problems (with diffs) come from the brutal self righting system. So I won't use it. Also, when I do not fully accelerate on asphalt, will my diffs hold up then?
@outsourcedrc4 жыл бұрын
I dont think its a nightmare to keep running. I think he just abuses his RC's like crazy. I dont actually watch his videos so I dont know for sure what he is doing. Its actually very rare for me to break anything on it. I dont use the self righting and I dont have any issues with the diffs. I dont think you can accelerate too fast for it, unless you are doing standing backflips all the time.

These Savox are 277 oz each. Even though it's more than the dual Traxxas servos at 250 combined, the turning feels a bit sluggish and if it's sitting still in the grass, it really doesn't want to turn the wheels if there is only one of these Savoxs. So those servos are $70 each, can you recommend me any other servos for maybe $30-40, that will do the job? And also do your connectors spark when plugging them in? Mine do and it’s kinda scary
@outsourcedrc6 жыл бұрын
I'm told that the spark is from the capacitors in the ESC. Mine does it also. The problem with the E Revo 2.0 is that it is so heavy. The stock servos are 125 oz of torque each for a total of 250 oz of torque. The better the servos the more they cost, and this heavy E Revo 2.0 needs better servos. One of those Savox SA-1256tg servos is 277 oz of torque. Its more torque than the stock servos and I've driven mine around with just one of the Savoxs in it. It does turn fine, but you can tell a difference when compared to two servos. I know one Savox 1256 is enough for the V1 E Revo. It may be enough for the 2.0 and you could just run one servo. I'd hate to recommend a different brand. There is a reason we are all running Savox servos. I'm making a video this week comparing two Savox 1256 servos to one. If you want to wait and see how my video turns out, you can. Or you can just get one of these Savox 1256 servos and maybe get a second one later. The 1256 really is one of the best servos for your money. A Hitec HS-645MG is a $35 servo and it only has 133 oz of torque and it has a slower turn rate. There just isnt any good low priced high torque servos.

Had an e revo 2.0 for 2 weeks then sold it for an Arrma. The E revo ripped it's tires and stripped out a rod like you did. I work at a hobbystore and we've seen two broken E revo 2.0 already. I've owned 8 traxxas vehicles including the Xmaxx and realize the e revo 2.0 just isn't as durable so Arrma Kraton for me. get an Arrma to compare and bash around.

My E Revo 2.0 has been great. I'm ok with a few broken parts. I've heard bad things about Arrma like they are hard to get parts for and they stop supporting their older RC's. I like that Traxxas doesn't abandon their older models.
@elliotbaltazar6 жыл бұрын
The recent deal with Arrma parts support is temporary. It is related to that whole bankruptcy thing. They should be back to normal soon. I think most of their 1/8 RC's have interchangeable parts, and the older versions can be upgraded to the newest standards. Traxxas definitely has the parts game on lockdown though.
