Thanks for the video! A significant rules correction: Nikki correctly explained that the active player must roll the red Danger Die at the end of their turn, should they end on the same space as another player. However, the active player must ALSO roll the Danger Die should they end on the same space as E.T. (whether or not E.T. is in the active player's basket). There really should be 3 additional reference cards in the game, but anyway the reference card specifies this rule 👍
@killnerds
@killnerds Жыл бұрын
Mike forgot to roll the Danger Die the entire time E.T. was in his basket, though it's important to clarify that this penalty condition only targets the active player. Accordingly, after the turn passed from Mike to Lincoln - Lincoln himself would NOT have to roll the Danger Die during his "Move Enemies" step (unless of course HE ended on the same space as E.T., or another player). This particular rule pressures players to pass E.T. off to one another much more frequently (and/or move E.T. with candy). My group jokes that we're essentially playing football, and E.T. is the 🏈

We played 2 player and had two cop cars at the clearing, the third one was one space away. We needed 2 phones to move the ship and win and we got it. That was a very close win, and we used 4 items to make a device. I think 4 player game would be more difficult as there is even less space to move around

What a cute game! It seems that it is perfect to play with the family. It's a good way to introduce the movie to new generations who may not have seen it yet (although it's a classic). On another topic, I wish you could continue with the "GameNight DateNight!" chapters, apart from the regular videos. I imagine it must be a lot of work, but it's nice to see 2 player games with Nikki and Lincoln. You guys bring great games to the table.

I think those phone dice were clearly out of order. What a fun game though! Very true to the film too. I like how Greg can get past the agents more easily (since he's 'only' supporting cast in the film). Perhaps having the other kids in the game (Tyler and Steve I think) could've added an element of choice when setting up a 4 player game. It looks like the trick is to keep pulling the agents away from where you don't want them to be since they will head towards the kids and you need a lot of time to get the mothership moving. I like that there's no built in timer as long as the dice rolls don't move the cop cars too much and you can evade getting caught. For me, if there's one downer it's that, like with sooooo many other games, game time moves on between player turns, which means the agents and cars get lots of dice rolls and moves relative to the number of times any given player moves. A lot of games suffer from this IMHO. The art with all the plastic around Elliot's house and even the geranium on the bottom of the board show how much love has gone into the game. The cameras were terrific too, making it easy to read cards throughout the game. I thought sleeves would be reflective but they worked well. Many thanks!

Very helpful video! Thank you! Question though, do you need to roll the red "Danger Die" if you end your turn with ET in your basket or if you are sharing the space with him (similar to sharing the space with another kid)?

I think this game would really do well to have something like the Arkham Horror 3e tokens, instead of the blue dice. In that game, you have tokens that you pull out each turn, and they stay out when they get pulled. That way, you know the exact distribution of bad things that can happen, and it's not nearly as random.

René, we have the cameras mounted in fixed positions and we record all of the audio and video and sync them up and do a multi-camera project to edit after we film. It's similar to how we do our multi-camera live stream but we can be much more precise. Thanks for the note and for watching -Lincoln

they are all at heart - gamers. wanting to spread the love and appreciation for the hobby, and usually more specifically for a game that they themselves like, maybe even love. it is such a massive challenge, both in a personal and professional sense, to do this. to make it a bit more relatable: whenever I teach a game I truly love I start to mumble and mix up rules and rush for a while then slow down a lot etcetc... let's rather appreciate how awesome this production has been for this past decade, and how GameNight kept evolving year by year, episode by episode. :)

It’s actually really hard explaining rules and making them make sense for other players. Trust me. I learn rules differently from my gf. She wants to play the game and learn the rules while playing. Everyone is different! Also not a good look to post a comment like this on a game night video. Not really sure what your motivation was. But maybe you could learn some things in terms of explaining rules.
