I just swapped a Vee Tire Flow Snap 2.6 out for an E13 AT TR-Endurance in the front 9f my Marin AT7 and my bike is almost hilariously fast and easy to pedal now. Gonna run it like that for a bit just to see how it does on some fast flowy singletrack.

I’ve been running the Grappler in both DH and enduro casings, and in both compounds at different times. I’ve been really impressed with all of them. True, mopo is not quite as grippy as maxgrip, but it’s mighty close. My previous tires were Maxxis in various compounds and casings. Plus I haven’t had issues with wonky maxxis tire beads.

It’s been awhile since I had a wonky Maxxis but that likely because I’m riding as rocky of trails now that I’m up on the PNW. True about the Mopo compound it’s really a balancing act. I probably prefer it most the year around here but there are a few spots and conditions where you really notice the difference.

Thanks for the insightful review! I too have been enjoying the Gappler Mopo! Grippy and rolls good, relatively speaking. But my question is regarding the All-Terrain. I just ordered/received an All-Terrain in the Enduro casing with Control compound, in hopes it would be similar to the DHRII DD Maxterra. But I think t his tire has missed the mark for me (maybe I try the Mopo next). The knob height (both center and cornering knobs) are shallower than expected...maybe 1/2MM shorter than DHRII...and what's most shocking is how hard the knobs are. I have maybe 20 new tires hanging around, and these knobs are by far the firmest...nearly impossible to twist (there does appear to a micro-thin softer layer on top). They say they use a 56a base layer, but it feels like a 70! Do we suspect they are trying to make the knobs ultra firm on purpose? In any case, this will surely be a fast tire...at the sacrifice of grip to be sure! Oh, one more funky thing in this variant...the Enduro casing is funky because it's MUCH thicker and 2X stiffer under the tread than the sidewall, so unless you're in an area where you routinely puncture between the tread. Only other tire I've seen do this is the Vigilante...but they did it to better support the much taller and softer knobs...I can't figure out why they did that in this tire, with short, rock hard knobs. The extra weight would be better dispersed in sidewall support and pinch flat protection, though I suppose that's what the Downhill variant does).

Originally being from Colorado and still riding a lot in CO, Utah, NM and AZ, I really like the enduro casing and have been impressed with how it holds up. Punctures in the tread or pinch flatting and getting a sidewall and tread cut were pretty common for me. I cannot really speak for the Control compound as I have only felt it, not ridden it. That said the Endurance e bike compound tire feels way too firm so I'm not surprised to hear the Control is firmer than you would want. It seems like those compounds would be better in desert conditions.

@@NICADV Thanks! I might try an exchange for the Mopo, as I have in the Grappler already and really like. The control compound on the all-terrain I have, is maybe 2X firmer than a Maxxis Dual Compound of Schwalbe Speedgrip. No exaggeration. Maybe I was sold a really old tire and it's become hard, or maybe it's a simple one-off defect, I don't know.

Better question: Does the All-Terrain Mopo have soft and pliable knobs? How would you compare to Maxterra and Maxxgrip (in between the two would be great really)?

I tried to post about the All-Terrain Enduro Casiing, Control compound that arrived yesterday. In short, the knobs are rock hard. It's as if they used a 70 durometer base, and put a microscopically thin 50a layer on top...that's how it feels to me. But overall, the firmest knobs of any tire I've ever felt. Not what I was hoping for. Knob height is a bit less aggressive than DHR too, from my observation. And what's especially funky about the Enduro casing, is that it's 2-3x stiffer than sidewall...which makes it out of balance I want puncture protection in the sidewalls took, not just under the tread. Overall, it was a big miss for me, based on feel and observation.

Yes, the Mopo compound knobs are soft and pliable. I would definitely say it’s in between the maxxTerra and maxxgrip but closer to the maxxgrip.

I Normally run a CushCore in the rear with my DD DHR II tires. How would a Cushcore be with the Enduro casing tires you think?

I think it would work well. Especially if you live somewhere rockier. I’ve been running the DH without and haven’t had a problem, even with a whole lot of Whistler bike park and Cypress laps.
