E-trike Operation Baclaran - MMDA

The MMDA impounded many e-trikes in Baclaran and the surrounding area - mostly for driving without license or registration.
Commuters are regularly complaining about being overcharged by these e-trikes.
Many franchised jeepney and tricycle drivers have complained that it's unfair competition, especially when they're forcefully blocked from some routes.

It was difficult to see the daughter of the man who was beaten, standing next to Bong and crying. Her dad retired from the military and has been serving the mmda for 13 years. But I hope she found comfort in seeing Bong and his men swarm the area and leave with multiple tow trucks full of e-trikes. Baclaran is a very dangerous place for enforcers. It's not a game. One day I'll share more about what has really happened in that place. People sometimes complain that Bong is too strict and lacking in "consideration". But that's the only way you can have any kind of consistency. I respect the fact that he never asks more from his men than what he's willing to do himself. That's why the team will never be scared to stand by his side, wherever they go. Because they are a solid unit with a solid leader. PNP-CIDG will handle the ongoing investigation.

There's multiple videos on Facebook and KZbin. You can see them ambushing the tow truck and unloading the e-trike. You can see them beating the old man (leader of that MMDA scog team) and stomping on another mmda.

E-bike/E-Trike below 60km/h doesn't need a registration and driver's lincense. It's in our law. It is considered as Bicycles. However, If you use it as a public transportation, to ferry commuting passengers (Esp. with high fees) That is a big no!. I am an E-bike/E-trike user. We use it only for our daughter's service to school and when we are going the grocery store.

The problem is that allot of these e-bike owners know that and doesnt care about traffic and road laws. And the ones with licenses and registrations have to adjust to them??? They would be on the main roads and drive like they are site seeing. When an accident happens they want to act not accountable for them because they are just ebikes??? I know motorcycles and tricycles are bad, now these e-bike took the crown for being the worst on the road.

To ease the work of MMDA with this kind of places, MMDA should file a case on DILG against this baranggay officials who are neglecting their job. If proven that they have neglected their duty, they will be removed and fine for corruption. Because most probably they are receiving something from this vendors.

The first thing I remember after seeing Baclaran in the title of the video is you getting harassed by the vendors many years back and the one you mentioned where a Kagawad strangled an enforcer. Baclaran just seems to grow in the opposite direction, and with the Barangay and City focuses on their own personal interest then there is no hope for baclaran. Sir.Bong can clear this as many times as they can but it can never change with the Barangay and City is really the one who is behind and the root of the problem. If only the Government can give MMDA a bigger budget, then I guess they could at least put the MMDA in posts in places where problem seems to never cease down. Consistency is the only thing that can clean Baclaran, but MMDA doesn't have the resources for that for now, and the Barangay and City has no plans on cooperating when money is flowing through their pockets.

The mass media will always show how pitiful the state of these people are in, and while that is true, there is another side to it that the media seems to always leave out. I think you've already established yourself to Filipinos to be someone who does not have malicious intent, so even if you receive backlash for seemingly being "anti-filipino" if you put out the kind of content I am suggesting, you will still have a solid base to back you up. MMDA should know. there is still no registration for E-bikes. And they are apprehending people on eskenitas (Inner road/Baranggay road) and i saw one ebike user on this video showing his license but still they impounded his ebike coz there is no registration. Are you out of your mind MMDA enforcers? There is no.. Not yet, registration for ebikes and e trikes until now. And the law says it is still considered as bicyle due to its speed. So you don't have the right to impound those vehicles that is used for private purposes. Unless the LTO formalized it. You can apprehed those who use it as a public transpo.

It will impound either in HK Plaza impounding area in Pasay (if still there) or if they are in bad luck in Marikina impounding area. And no it won't get crushed unless it's considered abandoned.

There are classifications from LTO based on the specific type of e-trike, which roads it can be used, for what type of service and whether a license is needed or not.

If it's for private use, You cannot apprehed these E bikes. Like i said on my previous comment. It is still considered as a bicycle because of it's speed. But i agree on the registration. Its also a protection for the owners of ebikes . However i do not agree on having a drivers license for this. Like i said i said it's top speed is slower than the law says. Unless it is used on highways. Of course i have a driver's license since i have a motorcycle and a car. but we bought our ebike as a personal school service for our daughter (less that a kilometer from to her school) and as a cargo for out groceries. (Our local supermarket is also less than a kilometer from our home. Instead of using a motorcycle or a car for a distance like that (RIsky for us three to use a motorcyle and difficulty finding a parking and consider the gas price now if we use our car (an SUV to be precise) E-bike is a more convenient and practical mode of transportation for us.
