You said it well. The spec plays really well if you take kicks and frequent CC away from everybody. Alas, this is 2023 where everybody not only has a kick but 1-3 instant cc in the backpocket waiting for you, so that is not going to happen. Even if we assume you are a fakecast god, you still have to set up your dots via VT prior to the burst and the fakecast (and then hope you get precog), afterwhich you are cleared to do damage. That is, after you have cast your chosen cooldown (dark ascension or voidform), which leaves you exactly 3-3,5 seconds of precog for your void torrent. Compare the amount of plates you have to juggle versus a frost mage or an elemental shaman or a boomkin who spam away instants like no tomorrow. You can of course say that priest has instant CC to help alleviate this, but those instant CC's take time away from that precog that you need for the torrent. Compare this to a destruction or an affliction warlock, who do not have to worry about either of those things because once precog pops, they can instantly go ahead and deal damage with either UA's or CB's. We can't. At least warlocks have the tankiness to help mitigate the damage, but spriest doesn't after the nerfs. Instant casts were the only thing making their viable. And if Blizzard thinks that priest cast too many instants, maybe lava burst instant procs need to go too. Or maybe ice lances. Or maybe you just give SP a few instant casts and a good dispel protection and call it a day. I agree with all you said in the video, very sad to see SP community ignored again.

Void Erruption is a joke ability in itself. They should make the bolts like 1-3sec longer cd but hit way harder. Or the Erruption should massively increase on the initial target, leave the aoe part as it is.

But other thing was buffed AND shadow priest already deal asburd damage when we think about the utility it brings. Right now in my +25/26 keys I never run a group without a shadow priest. Mass dispel, PI, mind soothe, 5% stamina buff (cant say how many times it saved me for example on 1st boss tyra hov where it deals like 350k-360k dmg if you have no defensive up), not to mention incredible offhealing and finishing the key with 12-18k hps

From what I've heard about the greater fade talent it basically takes u out of combat and makes u untargetable for 0.5 seconds, similar to how spectral guise used to work.

Never made any sense to me how warrior execute costs nothing, can constantly and often come back even off execute range and hits like a truck, but stuff like Shadow Word Death that have a CD on it deals no damage

This should be generally true for purely rotational damage spells for all casters. There is simply no good reason why Shadowbolt of Fireball etc. should be interruptable.

One big issue in 10.1 is how long it takes to get enough insanity. Without DP you can't burst and disease dispell will be a hardcounter

They need to fix Mind Trauma like you say to work with Mind Spike, but also it doesn't apply without a full channel. So if you press MF again to pandemic the channel instead of leaving a gap (which should be optimal if there's nothing else to press), it doesn't work. As it stands it feels clunky af.

It's clear two very different teams work on Shadow Priests and Ret Paladins. Honestly, whoever developed the lion's share of caster/ranged DPS in general this expansion has done a dreadful job. Warlock, Mage, Spriest, Boomkin, Ele, Marksman... any spec that relies on solid casting to do damage at range... they're all in such bad, archaic spots design-wise (even if their DPS isn't too bad, but most are).

They need mobility!! Or massively survival buffs if they want SP to be a training dummy and cast spells. Otherwise the spec is most likely dead in pvp. You basically cast way more than a warlock but have no back outs and less def cds. The small "gfade might help a bit but should be 2sec duration or potentially make you immune to kick and you can get 1 cast off 100%

@@generalgrievous3731 AoE fear the same targets you're probably trying to kill, nullifying pressure for a moment maybe, but you also can't pressure much off it either for fear of breaking it. Void Tendrils which can be broken out of by killing it, where every other root requires specifically a dispel or a break like Tiger's Lust or Freedom. And Void Volley which you will never get off when you actually want it because Dark Ascension/Void Eruption aren't instant casts anymore, and thusly, to get your funny little volley off, you have to get through every cc and kick known to man (or get precog) to get it off, at which point even just slightly clever positioning from the enemy and a little razzle dazzle showing off their tap-dancing skills, they will sidestep every missile and lose minimal uptime. Alternatively, they can just sit through it and be content knowing they'll be right back ontop of the spriest in 2-3 seconds anyway. SP is a training dummy, and with the loss of a lot of instant damage, they're now an interactive training dummy with a fun little minigame where you get to try your interrupt skills. Just remember, even if you fail at the minigame it likely won't be game-over like missing a kick on a destro! So kick away, cause it won't matter in the end.

Frustration with the devs on this one is an understatement. Anyone who PvP's on SP saw this glaringly obvious weakness with the rework soon as they released the notes. It feels like they are just doubling down on the precog band aid solution to alot of casters without understanding that at low rating precog is good but at high rating its is easily played around, while ignoring the real elephant in the room; instant micro cc's, which melee have in abundance. I look forward to trying to hard cast VT and getting micro'd to death and ending up at 30% hp and now dare not cast because if i do get kicked i cant disperse and die 🤷

i think shadow priest in 10.1 is better. dot management for up to 8 targets in pve is easier. you don't have to stress over so many procs on Mind blast Devouring plauge, mind spike, mind sear. tho you get less shadowy aspirations which is the main thing that got me to like SP

I played a bit of shadow today and it feels like complete garbage in PvP. You cant spread your dots without Damnation. You have to cast your Void Eruption to burst and its no longer instant. The lack of instant casts vs all the kicks and micro cc makes it almost impossible to get your damage out. Many classes can remove or avoid the first hit dot and you cant get a second shadow crash for 20 seconds. Furthermore the target has to stand still or be in melee range for a guaranteed hit by shadow crash and then you have to get into voidform to do your only reliant instant casts which is voidbolt. Getting into voidform is nearly impossible when there are 2 kicks up so you have to fake cast at least 2 kicks to start doing any damage..

I think Psychic Horror has to go. When the spec has damage, it’s scary because of all the instant CC we have. Just having fear and silence but actual scary damage again would be a good middle ground. Scary dam paired with 3 instant CCs is a bit overboard and seems impossible to balance without making the spec feel like it’s damage is just padding meters and being a support class for your teammates to CC and land kills.

This kind of blizzard mentality forced me to switch to warlock years ago. With shadow priest it is up and down rollercoaster almost every patch. They make shadow either stupidly overpowered or unplayable in pvp. And because you have only one spec you have to live with every decision blizz makes. Warlock has 3 different dps spec and there is chance at least one of them is OP or at least playable.

Seems like they have no idea how to design Shadow Priest properly, what I have found about the spec (PvE) is • Should have a tank pet (Voidwalker makes most sense for Shadow Priest) • Be able to cast Mind Spike / Mind Flay while moving • Voidform and Wings makes indeed no sense to be casted - imagine paladin casting wings, or mage Combustion, Moonkin Incarnation, so it's huge WTF here • Increased Instanity generation, but reduce damage of some spells proportionally I feel like having these changes would make the spec much better and smooth

Would like to see creative and active survival and cc abilities only for spec trees for all classes base dmg of abilities and talents increased and some of the modifiers removed that would be a start, to make the game more fun, but i guess i cannot expect this from actually D3 ex developers that never worked on titles such as Cataclysm, MoP and WoD. D3 is just crazy modfiers when it comes to big damage and when D3 devs migrated to work for wow it shows as the huge modfiiers became the norm. But for PvP and outplays its not acceptable. D3s PvP was so good, that nobody played it. Good pvp games are coming out in this May and DF cannot remotely hope to compete with them as it turned fully into pve: class design and content wise. Tourney players and R1 streamers playing hardcore classic and its entirely pve, if thats not worrying for the state of pvp in wow, i wonder what is? Not that rpgs are even capable of beeing as good in pvp as some of the strategy titles, but it could be certainly more fun and exciting, if the class design would be more like that of MoP, you know, when class talents used to be very creative and were about cc and survivability, too not just another set of dmg modfiers.

I quit DF, the systems were great at the start but at the end of the day this is by far the WORST expansion considering content, activity, and having shit to do. The crafting order system is god awful, the lore is boring and absolutely does NOTHING to engage the player in it at all. It is the WORST expansion in the history of Warcraft. Id rather grind torghast weekly than have to deal with another day of this xpac.
